It's a major debate in our house. My parents never wrapped gifts from Santa, DH's parents did. We are debating what we'll do for LO!!

thankfully both mine and dh's parents didn't wrap santa's presents so there is no debate in our house!

@jmarionsmith: lol. Clearly we should have discussed this prior to getting married

My parents never wrapped santa gifts and DH's did.... we haven't figured out how were going to Santa.

Same here- mine were never wrapped and DH's were! We actually just had a heated discussion on this yesterday!!

My parents would display some of Santa's gifts unwrapped and all set up, but most were wrapped. Unwrapping presents is half the fun, so I think they should be wrapped. Lol

Unwrapped. How the heck would Santa have time to find the perfect gift for each little kid in the world AND wrap them?!?!

@mrsjazz: If a 250lb old man can fly over the whole world in a sleigh in one night, fit down a 1' wide chimney and eat my milk and cookies, I'm sure he can also manage to wrap my present.

All gifts were wrapped except stocking stuffers. My mom signed Fat Man instead of Santa at one point. She was ready for the chatade to be over. Lol

All gifts were wrapped, no matter who (whom?) they were from. Sorry, I'm terrible with grammar. =P

@pui: Lol!!! I agree! And that's what he has elves for!
Ours were always wrapped and we'll do the same with LO's presents. Unwrapping is half the fun!

OMG!!! My DH's gifts weren't wrapped when he was growing up... The first Christmas that I attended was the first year his parents wrapped his and his brothers presents. I never knew that was a thing to leave them unwrapped before. Honestly he is sad that his parents didnt wrap them growing up.

Always wrapped - what's the fun of an unwrapped gift?! All gifts from mom and dad came from Santa, and all were wrapped.

Wrapped always. DH said unwrapped but I already told him he is losing that battle.

All our gifts from Santa were wrapped, and one present was always from the family pet.
Even though we tend to reuse from previous years, I love picking out one new, holiday wrapping paper each season. I always wrap DH's best gift in the new paper.

I've never heard of people not wrapping them! Isn't that the whole point? To have fun unwrapping presents?!

Wrapped with special paper that's different from the paper used to wrap gifts for everyone else.

Unwrapped. It's the way DH's family did Santa. We did wrapped, but I'm okay with not having to wrap all those gifts.

Unwrapped! That's how my family always did it. I'm not sure but I think DH's were unwrapped too.

@pui: see, I felt like having the distinction was super fun. Plus that way my sister and I could sneak out of bed early to see what we got!

Always wrapped! But just like @FutureMrsMcK: gifts from Santa were wrapped in different paper.

@Sweet T: @NavyRN2012: @mrsjazz: @lilteacherbee: For all you naked Santa gift people were these gifts simply hard to wrap? Like an assembled doll house or bike or train tracks that incircled the tree? I just can't imagine a bunch of pink Barbie boxes just lying around.

@sslm: My parents used to cover the top of the stairs with newspaper so we couldn't see the set up toys until they gave us the okay to burst through!!
And Santa's gifts were always wrapped in a different wrapping paper from the other gifts (usually a contrasting colour)

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: sometimes, but not always! I definitely got a Barbie from Santa, unwrapped I swear it was super fun!!!

Wrapped, but in different paper than the gifts from parents.

Santa did not wrap. Only gifts from my parents were wrapped...this was actually how they started to tell my brother about Santa--they started wrapping it all!

Ours were always unwrapped and assembled (if necessary) come Christmas morning. DH's family wrapped his. I never thought about this before I saw this thread. I'm sure we will have quite the debate about it once the time comes.

I can't get over this (amazing) thread!
Unwrapped!!!!
Santa just leaves the gifts, assembled if needed and ready to go out front the tree with a stocking with the wrapped gifts from family tucked under the tree!
Wrapped just doesn't make sense to me but it was amazing reading this to even consider that wrapped Santa gifts are "okay"

@pui: Hahaha. Ok, so you have a point. Hey, I never believed in Santa, but my mom's rule was that her gifts were wrapped and Santa's just had a gift tag.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Barbie would be outside of the box. All of Santa's presents were assembled. Those gifts were always the big things that we wanted and caught our eyes first. I loved the unwrapped presents!

My parents wrapped most in Santa wrapping paper and left larger Santa gifts unwrapped. We also had gifts just from Santa we could open at any time (to keep us occupied while they slept in a little more) and family gifts that we had to open as a family one at a time. We plan on doing that with our kids.

Always unwrapped and assembled if necessary. That's how you knew they were from Santa. DHs parents wrapped theirs and that isn't going to fly in our house. It's the ONE tradition I had growing up that I want to keep.

@mrsjazz: ELVES! obviously.
This unwrapped presents thing is blowing.my.mind!

Ours were always wrapped unless it was something big, like a desk or a bike.
