I've been lucky that I won't be in the third trim until fall time... but I don't know what it's like to be preggo in the winter, so I don't really have a pref.
Just would like to avoid third trim in summer.
What about you?

My MIL gave birth to twins at the end of September, after the hottest summer in San Jose in years. Ugh. I'm just so glad that I'm second trimester all summer, but even this is hard.

Next time I will not be doing 3rd trimester in the hot summer!

I was due in September so I spent the majority of my pregnancy in the Georgia summer heat! I would much rather have spent that time during the fall or winter. It was SOOOOO HOT!

There was a time frame I aimed for (maternity leave that would include the holidays) because it was most convenient from a work and personal stand point and it worked out for us. If it had taken us longer to get pregnant we definitely wouldn't have delayed by skipping months of trying in order to avoid certain birth months.

We live in FL and I would have liked to have avoided July/Aug/Sept being pregnant. Or at least seriously pregnant. August and Sept are positively miserable down here!

I think getting pregnant in june and having a baby in March is perfect! I was large and in charge during the cold months so I didn't bloat or swell.
This time around I'll be in my 3rd trimester during fall/winter so it's not bad either.
Wouldn't want to be in my 3rd during august/sept

When we decided to start TTC, we timed it so we would avoid having a baby in the winter. I really did NOT want a holiday baby and generally hate the winter, and I thought the very best time to have a baby (for pregnancy, maternity leave, and birthdays) would be April or May.
While I still think that, it took us a really long time to get pregnant, so I was going to be happy with whatever that gave us. :o) I am due the last week of January, and at first I thought it was kind of annoying (who wants a February birthday?), but now I LOVE it... it will give our kid something to look forward to at the worst time of the year, I won't be super pregnant in the heat, my mat leave will be at the best time of year here (February-May), and there are GREAT cozy, warm clothes for tiny babies. I seriously don't know what moms in hot climates do with infants in July-August except stay inside all day.
So, I guess my point is... while I would *love* to plan an April or May baby next time around, I think you make the most of whatever you get. :o)

Penny was born may 7th which was perfect. Next time around, I would love to have the baby anywhere between Feb and May so I don't have to be super pregnant in the heat! I loved that we only had a few really hot days before she was born and I was in pants and sweaters up until I went into labor! Much more comfortable that way:)

I never want to give birth from Dec-Feb if I can help it - Canadian winters are sooooo unpredictable that I'm terrified that I'd have to race to a hospital in a snowstorm!

I honestly didn't even think about seasons to avoid when we decided to TTC. We experience all kinds of weather, but we're equipped with snow tires in the winter and our summers are not that humid, thank goodness!

Nah. I'm very lucky that we had such an easy time getting pregnant--we weren't trying or even thinking about kids--so I try not to look the gift horse in the mouth!

I was in the 3rd tri during the summer... hated it! Next time I hope to be pregnant during the winter... I'd like to layer clothes during pregnancy instead of trying to find something I felt comfortable in and cool!

Summer! It's miserable hot here and always raining. I can't imagine being in my third tri in the Florida summer and running through the rain from my car to work. Yuck.

I would hate to do bathing suit season during the fat-looking stage....you know, before you actually look pregnant and you just look fat.
squash / 13764 posts
Not really...I think being really pregnant in winter might be harder because of needing more clothing, rather than being able to wear light dresses and shorts in the warmer weather, bt that wouldn't be enough to make me avoid it

@ladyfingers: Yep! DH and I really did a great job of planning a FL pregnancy!! I hit third tri in early September! GAH!

@jholler25: Well maybe it will cool off a bit? Not sure how it gets down in South Fla, but it doesn't cool off in Tampa until November-ish
We're due in February so I think we planned pretty well (sorry)!

@ladyfingers: I'm basically screwed until end of November, and she's due the first week of Dec!

In the future we will probably attempt to do the pregnant in June, baby due in March route. Third tri in July/August/September really sucks. I’m SO thankful to be pregnant but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m completely miserable.

I was pregnant in the summer in the third trimester and it sucked.... but I'd do it again. I guess I don't believe it timing it for seasons, I think my LO will come when they want to come and I don't have much choice. Plus I think there are pros and cons to every season.

I don't recommend being due in August. It's miserable.

I Thought I was going to be miserable all summer long and surprisingly I have been doing ok. I have been to the beach a bunch and sit close to the water for the breeze. I am 31 weeks and hope the rest of the summer goes smoothly.
I do miss summer drinking.

I was in my third tri in the winter (had a Feb baby) and was very thankful for that... can't imagine being all huge and bloated in the middle of summer. Blech.

Originally I didn't want my first tri to be during summer since it gets so hot here and I thought that would be the worst time to be nauseous. Things didn't go according to plan since we conceived in June, but I'm pretty happy with the way it worked out--I have been taking advantage of freezing cold A/C all summer long!

Everyone keeps telling me that I timed it perfect for Texas weather. I got pregnant in July, so my first trimester will still be pretty hot, but the baby will be born in early April before the real heat kicks in!
pomegranate / 3604 posts
being 3rd trimester preg in the summer isn't a picnic, but at least once he's here I can take him (hopefully!) on walks during the fall and get out of the house a little.
If you have a winter baby (at least around here) you're pretty much stuck in the house for the first 2-3 months. Can anyone say cabin fever? (that being said, I'd like my next one to be born end of Jan/Feb/March anyways).

Ideally, I'd like to have our next child March-May so I can avoid being HUGELY pregnant in the blistering heat as I am right now! This has *really* sucked!
