I love being a SAHM, but ideally I would like to be a part time WAHM, especially now that LO is older.
You?

Hmm. I'm in transition right now (I'm waiting for formal hiring approval from my state, but I was given the impression that it's just a formality)
I'm a SAHM, but not a happy one. I think it'll be good for all of us for me to go back to work.

I wahm and wohm. LOVE it. I feel blessed to have 'the best of both worlds' (sorta) though I 100% identify with being a wohm, it's nice to be able to pop in and see ds 2-3 days a week from my home office.

I am WOHM and it's honestly the best thing that has happened. I was at home for two years and it wasn't the best thing for our family.

Yes! I enjoy my job for the most part. I like being PT while I'm in school, it works really well. And it allows me to have a little extra time with J during the week since I spend all weekend doing homework.
When I finally graduate, I will likely switch to FT. By that time J will be in school anyhow.

I'm a SAHM and love it. C is only 7 months, so we will see how it goes over the next few years, but the plan is for me to be home until future LO #2 is preschool age at least.
ETA: I hope when they are both a couple of years old I can find something part time with flexible hours. Not sure what...

I'm a WOHM and I'm pretty happy, though I think in a perfect world I'd be a part-time WOHM (work 3 days, home 2 days).

I'm currently on Mat leave for the year..a couple of months ago I was getting the itch to go back to work. Now that she's 6 months old she is SO much fun and I am soaking up every moment. Something tells me these last 6 months will fly by.

@mrsjyw: same!
very happy with my status as wohm/wahm. i work full time and we have full time childcare because there's no way i'd be able to get any work done even when working at home, so i do identify more with being a wohm, but it's nice to pop in and out and play with J in-between breaks... or toss a load of laundry into the machine if needed. it provides a good balance.

I WAHM most of the time and I love it! Sometimes I get bored but that is a small price to pay for flexibility!

I'll be a WOHM when I go back in 7 weeks but IDEALLY I would be a SAHM. But since WOH is the best option for us I'm pretty satisfied with it.

I am a WOHM and I wouldn't have it any other way. Now if I could just get a new job...

I'm a SAHM/WAHM and just interviewed for a great opportuinity to be a WOHM. Cross your fingers and toes. I never really wanted to SAHM, but circumstances conspired to make it so. I miss, well, smelling halfway decent on a daily basis and interacting with adults other than DH. Having two LOs now makes those things very difficult again.

I'm a WOHM, but I'd prefer to be a part-time WOHM.
ETA: Not a part-time mom, but part-time working.

I WAH and I like the WAH part I just hate my job and I don't think the WAH is worth the job. So I'm looking for a WOH job because those are much easier to find in my salary range than WAH jobs.

I'm a SAHM but currently looking for a job! I wish a part time WOH option were available in my field but it isn't so I'm looking for a full time position.

I'm content right now but am 95% sure I will ask to drop to a 32 hour schedule with a second

I'm a full time student, so I'm gone about 20-25 hours a week. My ideal would be to work part time when I'm done because I know staying at home is not for me but full time sounds like too much.

I am happiest being home with LO, so SAHM or WAHM (part-time, low hours) are both ok with me. I was doing the latter for a while and enjoying it, but my company got acquired and things changed and my WAHM situation isn't so peachy anymore. I'm hoping to transition to SAHM by the end of the year.

I'm happier as a WOHM than I would have been as a SAHM, but I think working part-time would be the best of both worlds.
honeydew / 7909 posts
I'm a part time wohm. I work 20 hours in 2 days so I'm home 5x a week. But I want to be a sahm - I've only been back from mat leave for 2 weeks now so I might start enjoying being away.

It's meh. I'm a WOHM but would love to be a part time WAHM/WOHM. I need to do something or else I won't be motivated to do anything but I'd like the flexibility to spend more time with LO.
watermelon / 14467 posts
Meh. I don't think I could SAH full time, but I wish I had the option to work part-time in my field. I'm also over dealing with board politics.

WOHM and like it, but I would love to be part time. Our finances and my job aren't conducive to that plan, though, so I'm full time.

I'm a full time WOHM, Ideally I would like to be a part time WOHM.

I WOH full time, though I am a teacher, so my hours are better than most. I would love to be a SAHM, but I don't think it'll ever happen for us, so I'm trying to let go of that dream.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
I'll be a WOHM when I go back, but for now I'm SAHM. Ideally, I would love to WOH two or three days a week, and SAH the others. Not financially possible, unfortunately.

I like WOH part time (20ish hours a weeks)I feel like I have the best of both worlds. I do wish that I had a better job though.

@char54: My SIL never went back to work after her first kiddo--she said that if she'd had to go back at 6 or 7 weeks, she would have welcomed the "break," but by the time 15-16 weeks rolled around, my niece was so fun she just decided to scrap the whole WOH business.

Right now I WOH part-time (0.6) and it's perfect for work-life balance!!
honeydew / 7463 posts
I'm due 9/26 and currently working full time. The plan is for me to quit my job about 2 months out from due date and SAH for as long as I/we feel it is working. It might mean SAH forever (we don't need my income), or it might mean for a few months. I just don't want to HAVE to go back because of mat leave ending, especially to this job.
I hate my current job and want to quit either way! So this pregnancy is the right reason to do that and reassess.
