The forever home thread made me think of this. I'm in my forever job. At least I think I am. I can see myself retiring doing this. It would take a lot to make me change from the gig I have. 
I sometimes get asked about my thoughts to move 'up' but I am quite satisfied with type of responsibilities I have. I purposely didn't put a 'maybe' option in the poll because if you had to choose just one.... what do you think?

Probably. I don't love it, but it's got really great benefits, solid job security, and several co-workers I genuinely like (I'm having lunch with a group of them tomorrow...). It's not something I'm passionate about, but I'm good at it. I really can't see seeking something else out (although I might change my tune 10 years from now...) But hopefully my position itself will improve...I've got my eye on supervisor, at least

I think so. I've been at this job for 10 years and I'm comfortable here. I have good pay, can work from home 3 days a week, and generally like what I do. Don't love it but I don't know what else I'd do if not this. Someone would have to offer me a job with a lot better pay to switch. And also the next step up would be a manager and I do not want to be one. My projects vary enough where I don't think I'll be bored with what I do.

No. I'd like to go back to school for FNP, and possible transition back to civilian life.

No. I'm in my job until I get enough sleep/energy to feel like I can prove myself somewhere else. I'm so over the leadership.

Yes and no. Military officers change jobs with each new position. I do plan on retiring from the military.

I hope so. I'm a tenured teacher in a strong, well paying school district. I plan on staying and have zero interest in administration. It's a little crazy to think that I could be there for 25-30 more years, but our staff is a real family because people tend to stay for the rest of their career.

Forever job? No. Forever company? I hope so.
My job is great but it's one of the lower paying jobs at my company and I will likely move up soon or move to a different part of the company.

Nope. I'm a sahm right now. I want to work again when my kids are in school.

I don't think I'm in my forever job, but I hope I'm with my forever company. My job is pretty good - good pay, flexible hours - but I'm not passionate about it. I'm hoping to make the move soon to another position. I love the company, it's really small and family-oriented and the staff are great.

No, if I were a PhD student forever, teaching other people's courses while writing my own dissertation for a fraction of the salary of an actual professor that would suck

Haha I was about to say where's the maybe option lol! I'm definitely in my forever career field now.... But forever position? Probably not! It's my first job post-graduation. It's a great job for sure! But there are some other things I want to try.

No. Definitely not. Not even close. Although I don't know if I believe in a forever job. I could perhaps stay at this employer for a long time but not in this position.

I do think I'll be in this company and this or a similar role until my los are a little older when I can refocus and consider making a big leap.

No, but at the same time I'm afraid of what's next. Currently a SAHM and I don't have anything to go back to once I return back to the work force.

I don't think so. My department is very drama-filled and it gives me anxiety. But this is job #3 since I graduated from college and they've all been similar. Maybe I just have too high of expectations.

Forever company and location: I hope so!! Forever job? Yes and no. I think I ultimately want my boss' job, but I love my current job and wouldn't mind having it for the next thirty years.

I would be very happy to stay with my current company for the rest of my career, but I can't imagine doing the same thing for 20+ years. I need more variety - even though my work is very varied, nah, I won't have this exact position for more than a few years before I do something else. Plus, our company purposefully moves people around every few years to spread out bench strength and fight boredom and fatigue. So, I'll likely be moved to a new position anyway!

It's hard to say. I am self-employed and really enjoy what I do and the flexibility it gives to our lifestyle. I wouldn't exclude the possibility of change one day though, especially when the LOs are teenagers.

I've been in pharmaceutical sales since 2006, and I definitely hope to always be in sales in the medical field. I love my company, and was just promoted out of pharma into a new Biologics/Biotech division. So I hope this is my forever career path and I just continue to move up.

No and I don't believe in forever job. Sure, I will be a writer for the rest of my life but at this job? Nope.

I might change the actual job I'm at one day for a different environment and population or setting I work with. But overall it would be very similar to what doing now. So I can say I'm in my forever career more than job. I voted yes though.

I voted no because I would love a promotion in 5-ish years. If it doesn't happen, I might look elsewhere locally but my current organization has great benefits and I like the culture and my co-workers. It's possible that could all change though.

Ahhh I really don't know! I SAH so I'm tempted to say no. But I just started to freelance and could see making a career out of that. Kinda the plan right now. But working at my old job forever was also my plan. So who knows!

I love what I do now...but doing the same exact thing with these responsibilities for the next 35+ years? No way. I thrive on change.

If I continue working as an attorney, I would probably keep my job. It's a government job with solid benefits, I'm good at the work, I get to have a part time schedule, and I get along with my bosses and coworkers well. The only downside is the pay is low and I can't do this specific job anywhere else so I'm tied to living in the region.
But I have toyed with SAHM once my kids are a little older and in preschool, changing careers into something more creative, or if we expand my husband's legal practice, to act as a managing partner running the administrative side of the business.

Forever job makes me happy- I like my job-benefits, relationships with the people I work with, skill sets match up etc. I also like the location, variety and pay for long term. Every year, my group of students and parents change and curriculum is always changing so that always brings new challenges.
ETA: I'm pretty surprised the majority of comments that were written were a NO but totally understand that we are a diverse group of peeps here on HB.
Also, I've considered changing jobs a few times, but just stayed put in the end.

I'm not sure. I'm still with the same company I started with, so while I enjoy where I work it's hard to imagine being here for another 30iah years.

I think I'm in my forever workplace, but hopefully not my forever job. The pay and benefits are decent enough, but I feel it's been a step back and that my skills are not being used to my full potential. That being said, the flexibility has been awesome for the big life events we've had the past few years, so I'm happy enough for now.
