@lilteacherbee: Staying in the Charlotte area, but north of it rather than south. DH wants to move closer to Lake Norman.

@swurlygurl: don't hate!
I'm proud to be a Kansan. There are things I don't like about our local policies/govt but I think I'd find that in any state. There is a lot of our state that is so beautiful but nobody ever sees it. People don't come here for vacation, but I like that it's quiet

I'm from California, and I think it's pretty great. You do have to lower your expectations when it comes to worldly goods, unless you have a lot of money. Sometimes that's hard.
My husband and I often daydream about moving to other places, particularly the Pacific Northwest. But our families are in CA, and it really is a beautiful, diverse, and progressive place...

My identity is pretty tied to being an Oregonian that I don't feel comfortable identifying as anything else. Though I consider myself a new orleanian I don't see myself as a Louisianian.. I feel like I'd have to be from here originally (several generations back at least) to be able to claim that.

Proud Ohioan here. I live in Tennessee now -- much less proud of that

I grew up in Utah, and I am proud of the state's natural beauty and the wealth of outdoor opportunities it offers.
I'm not so proud of its political reputation.

I'm in Idaho and eh, I wouldn't necessarily say I'm proud to be from here, but I do like it. I'm in the Northern half of the state and we have some extremely frustrating associations (like the Aryan nations were based here for years and years) and everyone from every other state just assumes that there are potatoes growing everywhere but it is a beautiful place to live and generally the people here are very nice.

I'm proud to be from Alabama. I do hate that my LOs won't be able to identify with a hometown since we're military now, but I love that they'll be able to experience living in different areas with different cultures

Being from NJ means you're born with conflicting feelings about your state Most of the time I love it, but there are definitely things I would change!

@rahlyrah: woohoo MD! I live midpoint between Bmore and DC and work in VA, and when gay marriage & the dream act passed last year I got to rub it in all my progressive VA coworkers faces

I'm proud to be from NY
We live in FL now. Yeah...not so proud (but I do love the life we've created here!). For your entertainment (and my embarrassment):

I do love being an Oregonian. I don't agree with a lot of the politics but what can ya do. I live in a beautiful state

Kind of- there aren't very many native Arizonans, it's kind of a transitory state- you are born here and leave, or you come here to die
I like the outdoorsy side, but could really do without the political stances here.

I was born and raised in California and I love it. I think I have the best of all worlds since we live in a no name city. I like being just an hour away from the beach and an hour away from the snow (: I love that cost of living is reasonable but we can go to big cities where the fun stuff happens (: love it!

I live in Hawaii have been here ten years. I love it here and am considered local but to me I will always be a California girl! They write songs about us!

I live in NY now but don't love it. I'm super proud of my hometown and would love to move back if I could (though I wasn't actually born there!) but not the state as a whole so much (michigan) -- there's a lot of messed up stuff going on in the state

@Shutterbug: Bwahahaa. I just moved to MA and am now much happier about it after watching that video
Proud to call Western NY my "American" home, but I'm definitely an EU citizen, British and English first (where I'm proud to come from the North-West).

@BananaPancakes: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @Mrs. Taco: Another Florida girl here. Born, raised, and currently residing. I LOVE Florida for a lot of reasons and see myself living here for my entire life, but am also very disappointed in it for many of the same things y'all mentioned. A lot of those involve our track record with politics and public policy. DH and I are comfortable locally though, living it a little pocket of "blue" within a sea of "red".

@Mrs. Taco: Yes! I love Florida Man! Makes me laugh forever. Oh crazy people.

I'm from Indiana, which I have conflicting feelings about. It's home and I always feel an emotional pull to it, but its "red state" status is tough for me to take sometimes.
I am now in Connecticut, which I like more than I thought I would (we moved from NYC for my husband's job). All in all, I really like the Northeast as a region and feel like it fits my personality a lot more than the Midwest. People say that residents of the NE are kind of cold, but I guess after several years in London and then NYC, I don't even notice that!
