Our shower was a storybook theme. Everyone brought a signed book instead of a card to help build LO's library.

I want a rainbow theme. I love color, we're team green so it works for that, and this will be my rainbow baby. Though I wouldn't mention that last part generally.

lol I guess I'm lame but when my mom asked what I wanted my shower theme to be I told her "…….Mae is having a baby? And not too much pink." I think showers can be lovely without a set theme. I do like the book thing, which I didn't realize was a set theme because most baby showers I've been to in the last few years have done that (and we are too). The only special request I had was I saw she had pinned the pic below and I thought it was super cute so I asked her to do that.

@Mae: Cute!
@rahlyrah: Love the books theme!
@Torchwood: This will be so special for you and it'll be a gorgeous theme for people to look at too with all those bright colors. Extra special meaning for you though!

@NorCalWayfarer: if you go with the storybook theme, let me know if you want a "figure out the famous children's book" game I made - it was really fun!

Lion King! I used the Lion King baby shower decor for LO's first birthday, but it was really intended for a baby shower. here are what some of the supplies looked like. Lots of other decorations are available too.

I had two showers. One was Dr. Seuss themed and guests brought books instead of cards. The second was little man/mustache themed. Both were awesome.

One caution to having themes though is people may buy gifts that go with the theme. My best friend ended up with tons of elephant stuff because there was an elephant on the invitation. She didn't have any desire for having an elephant themes nursery etc.

@Fronkinzankinsbride: Oh good call! I thought of that when I was looking at invitations and notices some of them were really gender specific and both of our friends want more gender neutral items, so choosing a more neutral invitation is probably a good idea. Thanks! And cute next theme -- I hadn't thought of that!

@beaker: I may take you up on that (maybe for my own shower!!!)

We had an owl/ book theme. LOs nursery is owl themed and I wanted a big library of books for her. We got a TON of books with cute little messages inside. My LO is now 17 months old and unfortunately some important family members have passed since our shower and it makes their books and messages so special to read to her.

I had a Dr. Seuss theme. My two best friends decorated my living room and kitchen (with DH's help) and made all the food. One of them made the cake and I drew and colored all of the food labels. My mom made "trufulla trees" for the walls and cookies for the favors

I did a fairy tale themed shower for my sister. It was a ton of fun. I also think it's nice to just pick a color palette and go with it.

The first time I felt my baby move, it felt like a flutter from a butterfly inside. So when I found out LO was a girl, I wanted a butterfly & flowery theme. These are a few from my babyshower last year.

I went to school for fashion and sew a lot. My mom did a "Cute as a Button" theme and the decor had like vases filled with spools of thread, paper plates looked like buttons, a jar filled with buttons for a guessing game, etc.
At work they went with Elephants but that was also my nursery theme

The people hosting our (coed) shower next month are also doing a book theme! They asked guests to bring books, and one of the games (according to my BFF organizing that part) will be to create a book, like decorating pages instead of onesies or something like that, and then she will bind the book after the shower as another one to add to our little home library I don't think the decor will be book-related, but the hosts are keeping me out of the loop so it'll be a surprise!
