The other day we did a 3D/4D ultrasound at a place that does a lot of gender scans. The couple before us was on their way out, and I could hear the wife talking about how sad she was. I thought she was being sarcastic until the husband started agreeing with her, and then he said to us, "Good luck, I hope it's a boy."
I didn't know what to say! I understand that gender disappointment is a real thing and especially in the moment it can be tough. But just out of curiosity I asked the employee later what happened, and she told us that this is their third child (they already have a boy and a girl) and they were hoping for a boy. But that it wasn't the biggest deal really because they'd have more kids and would get their boy eventually. Something about that annoyed me, between the couple's comments and the idea of having more babies to get the boy...maybe it's just me because we struggled so much to have this one and we're just so thrilled to be having anything. I also feel pretty sorry for their daughters.
