@LindsayInNY: I eventually took mine out because my belly button popped and if was a hot mess.

Word of caution: my navel piercing never closed, and I thought it would. None of my piercings closed, and there were two that I definitely thought would close quickly. No one tells you this when you're 19!

I didn't have mine in for most of the pregnancy so it wouldn't get in the way of the Doppler, exams etc but I could still awkwardly put it in up to 28 weeks (it was not cute though lol!) My belly button hasn't popped, but the holes from the piercing look like they're getting a little crooked as my belly button flattens out. Some people use those long clear tubes to maintain the piercing but it wasn't important enough to me so I'll just see what happens after the pregnancy.

It's weird to not have it when you've been used to it for so long, it feels so naked BUT once your bump really pops it will be a whole new belly anyway and will seem less strange (well more strange probably but in a different way!)

@LindsayInNY: I took mine out over a month ago, but it makes me feel naked, so I found a flexible clear pregnancy one on Amazon for $5 that I'm using in the meantime. The hole started looking flat as I grow and that freaked me out a little lol not sure I'll be keeping this one in the whole time though.

I took mine out pretty early because my mom told me about her friends daughter who left hers in and had to have it surgically removed because it got too tight. I was not interested in having that done!

I have no obvious advice, but I took my belly button ring out 2 years before we started ttc (when I went off BCP) and 5 years later that damn hole is still there. I can't get a ring through it anymore but it looks hilarious.

I took mine out during my first pregnancy because it started stretching and it sort of hurt. I never put it back in

I've had a belly piercing for 15 yrs, and took it out at around 23 weeks. I definitely could have kept it in longer, as I haven't popped yet at 30w. DH was rubbing my belly last night and commented on my funny little hole. I assume that I would be able to get a ring through it still, although I haven't checked. I'd planned on getting one of those clear, flexible bars for pregnancy, but in the end, it didn't seem worth the effort.

I took out my bb piercing at age 28 after 10 years of having it in (2.5 years before LO was born). I'm sure I'm the worst case scenario but daaaamn I wish I'd never done it in the first place. The hole never closed and it got really stretched during my pregnancy so it's sort of... floppy? And just like my belly button, the inside skin turned dark brown as my tummy shrank back to normal size so now it's this gross dark brown saggy hole. I am seriously more self conscious of that stupid hole than the rest of my post-baby body. I don't think keeping the piercing in would have helped, and my belly skin was so tight by the end that I imagine it would have hurt quite a bit. Hopefully no one has it as bad as me though

I took mine out around 20 weeks with my first pregnancy & my top hole closed even though I had it pierced for 6 years. I was so sad when I found out it closed.

@LindsayInNY: Like @Mrs. Jump Rope: said, the navel one never closed for me.....and when I saw a plastic surgeon in my mid-twenties to see if I could get it closed, he said to wait until after I had a baby to see what it did. I just had a baby-it's just as noticeable as before. Ugh, I wish I could talk to my 18-year-old self and talk her out of this piercing! Mine was only in for about a year, too!

@rachiecakes: same! My only stretch mark is the underside of the piercing.
