Aside from immersion or finding a conversation partner I would try reading, watching TV shows or movies, and listening to music.

I teach ESL in France and mostly to adults. I always tell them to try and listen as much as possible because that's often the most difficult for them. So TV, radio, songs...in theory the best would be at least 10 minutes a day.
Then ofcourse total immersion is the best but very improbable that it's possible.
There are lots of websites that send you weekly lessons etc that can keep you active in the language, like BBC learning...
And yes a language conversation group is a great way to keep up your level and improve!

As the PP said, immersion is definitely the best. After that, try to watch or listen to shows/movies/podcasts. Another trick, some DVDs (and possibly streaming, but I've never done it) will give you multiple language/subtitle options, so you could set the language to your desired language and also turn on the subtitles either in English or the desired language.

To maintain my skills in the target language, I do what others have suggested: join a Meetup group to practice conversation, watch movies, read anything (blogs, news, novels), listen to music, and lately I have really enjoyed finding podcasts in the target language.

I am currently watching Spanish language stuff on Netflix with English subtitles as a brush up.

I have had friends recommend the app Duolingo. I've used it a little, it feels like a game. I used Rosetta Stone years ago and like this better

I also like Duolingo - it's free and fun to do. I think it's especially good for languages you already know, but want to advance in - I'm not sure how well it would work to learn a language from scratch using the program.
