What's your biggest parenting challenge right now and how old is your LO?
Right now we are struggling with transitions - like getting T to stop doing an activity he wants to do. Like leaving the park, leaving to go to errands, going indoors after playing outside, getting out of the bath. I give him a heads up as to when we are going to stop the activity and what we are doing next, but if he is having fun, he throws a serious tantrum. He is 21 months.

Right now at 9 months -it's solids. BLW did not work out for us so we went to purées. She loved the purées from months 5-9. Now I think she is ready for more chunkier foods so we'll try some this weekend.

Mine is the same -tantrums! J is almost 17 months and just in the last few weeks has started having longer tantrums (before it was just a few seconds or a minute, not a big deal) and I'm struggling with how to deal with them. This toddler thing is tough!

@Jenn23: months 15-18 months were sooo bad for us for hitting and tantrums!!

Battle of wills... L is a *very* easy going baby (I think I have to start saying toddler now?!?! 
) 99% of the time, but some things she just digs her heels in and will never give up. Like, CIO - this would never ever work with L - she would cry for 5 hours straight before giving up. I've never actually tested that, but I am sure of it. Also, when she decides she's hungry, there is nothing on this earth that will distract her until she gets some food.
I just don't know how to deal with it, because it's her way or screaming. Not even a tantrum, really, she's just not going to change her mind.

@winniebee: No hitting here, luckily! But he does not listen to the word "no" at all, tests it constantly and repeats things over and over that he knows he shouldn't do. Luckily, he doesn't do these things often at all, he's pretty laid-back and happy-go-lucky (knock on wood!!) so it isn't too bad. But definitely harder than a few months ago. haha

@winniebee: this is a big problem for us, as well. Leaving the park, going back home after a walk where she walked all of 20 feet in 30 minutes because she spends the entire time picking stuff up off the ground, etc. I have a feeling this lasts a while, too because they don't get "reason" right now. Like, "5 more minutes!" No. They don't get that.

@mediagirl: I don't know why I say it but I always tell him 5 more minutes!!! It's not like he understands time but I guess I hope he soon learns that it means we need to leave soon.

day to day it's eating for both kids. they actually ate dinner two nights in a row this week -- a miracle! the past couple of weeks they've been eating maybe 5 bites tops total... if even that sometimes. tough because i spend so much time cooking healthy, nutritious food, and almost all our day's allotment of energy is drained at dinnertime.
charlie is 4 and olive is 2.

Sleep- LO likes to stay up late! He STTN but he wont go to bed till 8:30/ 9! I need him to go to bed earlier!

Honestly it's more about parenting as a whole that has been a huge challenge...accepting that there is no logical explanation, that things don't always follow a pattern so changing the way I see her and her World (now our World) has been hard for me. Lacking confidence is a major problem too. I thought that the sleeping, eating, dealing with a crying baby, cleaning up sick, dirty nappies would be the hardest, but it's actually not.

@Kimberlybee: well they typically eat a very large lunch so i try not to stress about it. they're just not big dinner eaters.
it just is extremely disheartening when i spend so much time cooking and they don't eat it. feels like such a waste of time when i don't really enjoy cooking in the first place.
i'm hoping they grow out of it. talking to parents of older kids, most do around 6 because they're just growing and hungry!

Sleep. Even now that it's improving, I am so tired. It's hard for me to be engaged when I'm this exhausted. Hopefully she continues on this positive trend and I can start making up some of my accumulated sleep debt.

My current parenting challenge actually has nothing to do with LO. I have chronic insomnia and most nights I get 3-4 hours of sleep, if I sleep at all. It's brutal and I'm utterly exhausted. It makes it really difficult to be engaged and patient with LO on a daily basis.

Gosh. Right in this moment, things are actually going well?! LO started STTN this past weekend which has been glorious, so while I'm not actually *rested* yet, things are okay. I'd say food, though - LO has decided she will ONLY EAT CHICKEN AND NOTHING ELSE, even though she was so into her veggies for a long time. Last night I put it all in front of her BLW-style, and she ate the chicken and threw the broccoli overboard. Cute and smart but... no. She's 9.5 months.

@JoJoGirl: I can't get R to chicken at all.
I totally read this wrong when I answered above. Right now, bedtime, she won't go down at 7 like she has been. And is waking up at 5. So she is not getting enough sleep like at all.

We've dealt with a bunch of whiny tantrums again lately. I don't know why they've come back with such a vengeance. Also, getting her still for diaper changes always includes some kind of discipline. It drives me crazy. You would think that she would welcome someone cleaning off her point butt, but no. I'm actually really looking forward to potty training. LO is 21 months.

My biggest parenting challenge is my lack of patience! It's something I struggle with daily. Thank goodness DH has the patience of a saint, we make a good pair. I can't help but be disappointed in myself though, it's really something I need to work on. My kid isn't even that whiny or bad, I just have zero patience.

@petunia354: Right there with you on the lack of patience. When it was just DD, I had all the patience in the world, but when I got towards the latter stages of pregnancy with DD2, and since she arrived two weeks ago, I find that my patience is virtually zilch. I hate it, it makes me feel like the world's most horrible mother I'm hoping it's just hormones and I go back to my normally patient self very soon!

@Ree723: Glad I'm not the only one! Hang in there though, I'm sure the hormones plus adjusting to 2 LO's has got to be tough. Cut yourself some slack, I'm sure things will get better soon!!

Lately it's "walking"- he wants to walk everywhere by himself. However he won't hold my hand or listen when he does so I've started having to tell him that walking is a privilege he only gets if he can listen to me, or else I carry him. He hates being in a grocery cart or held somewhere he could be running.

LO is 13 months so i know that discipline/tantrums are coming very soon, but so far the biggest challenge has definitely been his sleep. i was an absolute wreck during maternity leave trying anything and everything to get him to fall asleep and stay asleep. i feel traumatized.

This phrase: "I don't WANT to!" Complete with a little flourish of the arms and defiant stare. He's 2.5.
With the baby, it's naps. He's 4 month and most of them are the 30-minute "seriously, that was really restful?" kind.

@swurlygurl: How old is your daughter? Sounds EXACTLY like my girl, and is my greatest challenge as well! My LO's name also starts with L too, hehe. Also, I tried CIO with her in the past, and she cried for 3 hours straight until I finally pulled the plug. CIO will never work for mine either!
My LO is only 13 months old, but I say she's 13 months going on 13 years because she knows exactly.what.she.wants (or doesn't want) and nothing will do until it happens. I try to stay positive and remind myself that it's good for her to be persistent and strong, and those are traits that will serve her well when she's an adult, but her stubbornness frustrates me to no end sometimes.

@Beyond2: I'm also hoping that as he learns new words, the whining will ease up! His best buddy is pretty advanced in language and doesn't seem to whine as much. It's brutal:(
