@winniebee: have you tried a transition object? I can't remember if I read it on this blog or somewhere else, but they take the object to the next place. Like from swing to stroller could be a certain stroller toy. When teaching preschool I would give lots o warnings before a transition, 5 min, 1 min, then 5,4,3,2,1 to make it REALLY clear.
Our current issue is dealing with his frustration since his language hasn't caught up with his understanding and desire. It can be hard to figure out what he wants and his yells don't help!

@Mrs Green Grass: I don't have a transition object per se but usually give him an object or snack before we transition (match box car, plane, ball, book, etc). Does it help if you use the same object?

LO is 18 months old. Tantrums, especially about cookies, are the worst ones. He wakes up talking about cookies, but it's more of a manipulation to see if he can get it. This morning was another tough one. He cried even when he got one for getting ready. Transitions are also tough on him.
