I'm too scared to ever get one done! But even if I did, I think I'd want to wait. I let myself go down there because I couldn't see it so I was scared to hurt myself, and really you won't want to have sexy time until a while after birth anyway.

I tried to get a bikini wax once and the pain was just too much. I think you should do whatever is going to make you comfortable during & after the birth. I would think that you won't have time for quite awhile once he's here.

I'd get one ASAP, especially if it's something you will think about at all while in labor, and wish you had done. I just had one done a few days ago at 36+ and it was a little more painful than usual, which my waxing lady said was normal. The pain was only a little bit worse, so, no big deal really. I also got my legs done too, so I don't have to worry about shaving those post-birth.

if you think it's something you would want to have done in the weeks after giving birth, i'd go ASAP. maybe use some numbing spray if you can, as i'd imagine you have increased sensation down there right now & if you haven't had it done in a long time there are a LOT more hairs to rip out than just when you go in to maintain.

My plan is to get all of my beauty treatments done as close to when the baby arrives as possible (wax, hair color, mani/pedi, etc.). Who knows when I'll have time again once the baby gets here!

I'm with @Highwire . . . I plan to do as much *prep* pre-delivery as possible, including a bikini wax. Since these are things I do regularly, I just want to feel like myself (and prepared, if that makes sense) as much as possible.

@krsmall: @winniebee: I never heard that. My nuring crew went in before my section to "clean it up" for the surgery and said "oh wow, you did a good job, no work needed!" They actually encouraged me to try to keep it maintaned if that is how I normally kept it

I just shaved. (or tried to at least) I can't do wax. Ouch!

Definitely yes! I was really glad I did because I ended up having a c-section and if you're not waxed they shave you! (Then growth + scar= ewww)

@krsmall: Yeah, see what your OB says, but that is super extreme. That would have driven me nuts to not groom at all for that long. Yick.

I would do it before you go into labor, because I was in a lot of pain down there afterwards, for about 3 weeks. I wouldn't even think of trying to put a razor, much less wax, down there until I felt better. It would be much better to have it already taken care of before the baby comes.
