So today at my 30 week appointment I was measuring 33, then the midwife realized that lo is breech and she thinks that's why I am measuring large. She said if she is still breech next time she is going to try to turn her around. Has anyone else had success turning their lo or anyone have a lo turn on their own this late? Did they stay after they turned?

Hope your LO decides to turn before next week on her own! Have you tried sitting on an exercise ball? They said in childbirth class that helps the baby get into position.

I sit on my exercise ball fairly often. Thankfully I have 2 weeks before my next appointment, maybe she will turn by then I guess I will be sitting on my ball until then lol!

From what I've heard there are certain hip and pelvic exercises that can help you might have to search online for the specifics

@cyndistar3 DD was breech, but we were not candidates for an external version. There's only a 50% chance of success, and the success rate is even less for first-time moms. On top of that, there are a ton of risks associated with the procedure. Best case scenario, the procedure works. Worse case, the babies heart rate drops & you'll have to have an emergency c-section right then and there.
After doing a lot of research and talking, Mr. Jumper and I decided that it simply wasn't a safe procedure, and opted against it. In the end it was a moot point because our OB refused to do one.

@cyndistar3 Oh wow, I'm almost 32 weeks and my baby is still breech. My OB said not to worry about it, if she's going to turn, she'll do it by 36 weeks. I am afraid of those external turning procedures. I would prefer to let nature take it's course. I would just say hold on a while, your baby may decide to turn on her own.
@Mrs. Jump Rope's story just freaked me out about the emergency c-section! Makes my decision to let nature take it's course even more important.

@cyndistar3: I've heard getting on your hands and knees can help turn a baby too, maybe do the cat-cow yoga position?

We have a feeling she will turn herslef becuase she is still super active in there and always roling around. She mentioned it like it was no big deal so I am starting to wonder if she meant she would give me different exercises to do to try and get her to turn on her own? I guess we shall see!

I'm currently 38 + 2 and my LO is breech. Unfortunately, he didn't decide to get himself this way until 34 weeks, so we're looking at a csection on Tuesday. My OB wouldn't even consider attempting to turn him since we didn't have an u/s confirming he was breech until 37 weeks and I have an anterior placenta, which makes the procedure riskier.
But spinningbabies.com has some great tools, and I've gotten acupuncture twice since finding out. He really starts moving after a session, and it's had a pretty good success rate for babies under 35 weeks; we just didn't have enough time to really work on it since I was further along. I've also heard great things about moxibustion, which a lot of acupuncturists can do, as well.

I don't think Sneakers turned until after 30 weeks, but our doula recommended doing at least 80 cat-cows a day to help her turn. It worked (though we'll never know if she would have turned on her own). Plus, the cat-cows really helped back and upper rib pain.

My baby turned breech at 27 weeks, and by 32 weeks made his way back to head down. WAAAAY to early to worry!

She may turn. My Baby Bear was breech, then right way down, then breech again. We didn't try to turn her though.

@mediagirl I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. We did a lot of research on the topic and I watched a few YouTube videos of the procedure. It just wasn't something we were willing to try.

I am 36 weeks today and baby is still breech, in fact she has been since our 20 week anatomy scan. We are contemplating an external version and I can only tell you from my research and talking to several OB's, there is little risk to the baby since they are monitoring very closely, the only downside is that it can be painful for you. It also only has a 50% success rate for first time moms. Also, I just wanted to add that every doctor I have spoken to does NOT recommend any of the the techniques on spinningbabies. Of course these positions seem to work for some people, but really just some babies turn head down on their own. And if there is a medical reason that your baby is breech, such as a short cord, a cord that is wrapped around part of the baby or something else, trying to turn them without ultrasound guidance can end in inducing labor or worse. Just please keep that in mind before you try laying upside down on an ironing board or something like that.

@shortcake: wow, thank you! I am not even concerned anymore because yesterday she managed to flip upside down on her own and back multiple times just from me applying a warm pack to my stomach. I am fairly certain she just isn't ready do hold still yet. I definitely would have talked to my midwife before trying any of those methods, don't wanna be causing unnecessary problems

Well, I had my appointment today and she said she couldn't be 100% sure if the baby was up or down so she said in two weeks I might get another ultrasound just to be sure... I won't say no to that

My sister had a breeched baby and even though they tried to turn the baby it didn't work. Hope the baby turned for you!

I'm only 33 weeks but after reading about an external version, I would definitely pass on it. I've read that it can be quite painful and there's risks associated with it - with some doctor's only administering the procedure past 37 weeks (in case of an emergency C section). Definitely look up the procedure and see if you feel comfortable doing it this early on.

The ultrasound showed her head up with feet planted in my pelvis. She tried to turn her but she was being stubborn. I am now supposed to lay partially upside down for about 20 minutes a few times every day. I am now starting to worry... I really don't want a c-section

@cyndistar3: Ours turned several times, once a week until the week she was born. So don't give up hope. For fun and laughs, we put a flashlight and played music DOWN THERE.

@808love: I know theres definitely still hope but I am just having a hard time being hopeful at the moment lol... I guess part of me feels like shes getting too big and thinks that if she was going to flip she would have by now
