We just started brushing D's teeth. We're using one of the "first toothpastes," you know, without flouride. But do you rinse after you finish brushing their teeth? I mean, he's a year old, so he clearly won't get it if we tell him to spit it out. Do you just let it go? Do you give him a sip of water? This is probably a stupid question but I'm confused!

I put water on his tooth brush afterwards and give them another good scrub just so the toothpaste isn't sitting on his teeth. Not sure if it helps or not...we will be going to the dentist soon! (DS is 15 months)

We only use water (no toothpaste) right now (16 months). I hope yellowbird spots this thread! You can wall her too - she knows what she is talking about

we use water and do a rinse brush if we remember!

We didn't start rinsing until we were ready to transition to fluoride toothpaste... so started practicing spitting around 2.5 and now at 3 he uses fluoride toothpaste and spits. Rinsing, not so much. But we try.

I wipe with a little cloth if I'm motivated!

we dont rinse. she is 21 months old and doesnt know how to spit out yet. we use babyganics baby gel which is safe to be swallowed

Nope. We use toothpaste, but don't rinse. It's banana flavor, so she licks it off anyway.
