Who has TTC plans for 2019? How are you feeling about it?

I think we likely will once I get my period back postpartum. I'm excited to hopefully ultimately expand our family, but not looking forward to TTC (took awhile with losses last time) or the first half of pregnancy...

Me This is my last cycle of trying to avoid so I'll probably be actively TTC at the start of the new year. I'm so excited cause I have the baby fever hardcore, but also nervous cause I'm feeling quite a bit older this time around.

@periwinklebee: yayyyyyy !!!
ETA my happy plan is that Iβm 98% sure we are done at two.

We're continuing until Spring/Summer ish, from there we will switch to Embryo adoption.

@LCTBQE: Us too, 100% done biologically!
But in happier news, I am going to start researching adoption in my area because DH and I agree if we do have another, that's how our family will expand So in 2019 I need to gather all the information possible and then decide if this is the right fit for us and feasible (mostly financially).

In February, DH and I will be at 3 years trying for our #3. We have unexplained secondary infertility. DH and I received awesome test results (hormones, bloodwork, AMH for me and SA for DH) this month so we have the green light for utilizing gonadotropins (with estrogen to increase my uterine lining as I normally OV a bit early in my cycle) along with IUI! We are very excited.
This cycle is non-medicated with natural BD-ing mixed with home IUI (* another name for "turkey baster ICI"). Assuming we don't conceive our "lucky BFP" this cycle, next cycle [in January] will either be a medicated cycle (gonadotropins) with natural BD-ing or our first clinical IUI. We are hopeful yet remain realistic about possible outcomes. We have decided we will try 2 or 3 IUIs before moving on to 1 or 2 IVF cycles ... then we shall call it quits. (Sometimes, things happen for a reason and there is a time to just accept it.) I am taking the next 5 mos off from teaching to focus on TTC and my health ... I will pick up my EN summer sessions in June.

@Sams Mom: Was the information I sent you on embie adoption of any benefit?
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@snowjewelz: That's amazing! Any thoughts on whether you're interested in a younger or older child? I think it's such an amazing thing to do. I have an acquaintance who has had success with adoption fundraisers through her church in order to defray the costs, I hope these sort of options will be available.
@Sams Mom: So many fingers crossed for you!!!
@LCTBQE: So glad to hear that things are feeling right with your family of four!
@JennyPenny: Eek, exciting!!!

@Kaohinani: yes as always your info finding abilities came through with flying colors
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Kaohinani: So much luck!!! Some of my TTC buddies here from last time had IUI do the trick. I really hope this will be the case for you, though understand how important it is to manage the expectations, especially after so long trying. Will be thinking of you!

At some point I'll start trying again. We had 3 losses in 10 months in 2017 and 2018, so I need a break (and a summer baby would be better for us anyways), but we've been doing fertility testing this month and everything is coming back normal to better than normal for my age, so it seems like we just have terrible luck.
@snowjewelz: I've also been looking into adoption. I live in a small state with only one licensed adoption agency that handles both private and foster care adoption, and they require a $100 deposit just to have an informational meeting, so we haven't started the conversation yet, but it's on my agenda for the spring. If we were to go through this agency private adoption is bordering on prohibitively expensive, but there's no real info on adopting children from foster care and what that looks like financially or otherwise, so it might still be in the realm of possibility.

@periwinklebee: thatβs great to hear! I have NO idea whatβs in store but it canβt go anywhere unless I start somewhere!

@periwinklebee: Thank you so much! I hope it works as well. π€
@Sams Mom: I'm glad it was of some benefit. If you need any help with anything else, please, do not hesitate to ask ... I will do my best.
@Karenbeme: We miss you on the POAS board. I am glad your tests have come back clear.

@karenbme: maybe we should have a thread about this next year! The cost aspect is def really concerning but i decided I wonβt rule anything out till Iβve done all the leg work. Here is to 2019!!

@periwinklebee: hoping good things for you and everyone trying! I am happy to (hopefully) never POAS and go on that rollercoaster again

@snowjewelz: one of my best friends lives in St Louis, and they always planned to have some biologically and adopt some too. She spoke to multiple agencies and most told her they would need about 15k by the time it was all said and done.

@Kaohinani: I have all of my fingers and toes crossed for you, lady. Here's hoping IUI does the trick!! I'm thinking of you.
@snowjewelz: Oooh, an adoption thread could be really interesting. One of the things I've had a lot of trouble with in the early phases of my research is finding info about what the whole process is like. I don't know anyone in my circle who's adopted, so having people to go through it with might be a good thing.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Sams Mom: Wow 15k is really reasonable. The placement fee alone for a private adoption here is on a sliding scale that starts at 30k and then all of the home study and legal fees are on top of that.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Sams Mom: That's a good ballpark to have in my head! I need to also dive back into all the adoption posts/blogs I've read on HB before
@karenbme: Someone just referred me to this; she has a few posts dedicated to her adoption process -

Me! I'm getting so excited! We'll be trying for baby #3 starting in April. We currently have a 2.5 yr old and 1 year old. I'm really excited to expand our family, but getting a little nervous about the newborn stage with potentially a 2.5 and 4 year old (if our timing works out). If I could just pop out a 6 month old, that would be great...

@kayla0416:
@bhbee: Thank you!
@karenbme: I'm so sorry, that really sucks. Not the same, but we had a couple of losses trying for our first, and it took awhile. I figure this time around I'll figure out if it was just bad luck or some underlying issue. I'll be thinking of you and keeping all my fingers crossed.

@kayla0416: I'll let you know in about 6 months. My oldest turned 4 in October, my 2nd turns 2 in late January and I'm due in mid June.

@Mrs. Toad: Exciting! I know that first year will be so so hard, but I've always thought it would be fun to have kids close in age. Good luck to you!

@crazydoglady: I've been lurking on this thread and thinking how weird it is that I will NEVER TTC again. Not in a wishful sense, just weird.
Best of luck to everyone!
nectarine / 2431 posts
@LBee: I know...and honestly it's such a relief. TTC sucked both times (for different reasons.) If DH would go for a 3rd I *might* like 0.0005% chance be tempted, but DH is done so that's that.

@Kaohinani: She's a 3 month old spitfire. Can't wait to read about your goo s news someday very very soon.

@crazydoglady: my hubby will schedule his when baby boy is safely here. It's so weird but I'm glad not to have the Rollercoaster again! Well eventually be adding to our family with Foster care but not until our littles are a bit older
Good luck to all looking to ttc this coming year! Hope it goes smoothly

This will be the first year in 5 years where I'm not babymaking! Agreed with others, feels weird! Always thought we would have 3-4 but feeling more and more and more done at 2 these days. Which ALSO feels weird!
2018: had baby
2017: TTC/pregnancy
2016: had baby
2015: TTC/IF/pregnancy

@crazydoglady: My daughter was a spitfire as well! Thank you!!!! I'm hoping not to disappoint with 1 or 2 IUIs.

@DesertDreams88: @LBee: @crazydoglady: so weird. We were on the fence about a third for a long time but are feeling good about stopping. I want my body back

We're already TTC but have an RE appointment (due to AMA and recurrent early losses) in late January which will hopefully get us on the right path!

@bananasareyellow: Good luck, if I haven't already said it on the POAS board.

@crazydoglady: My husband would have more, im just done. Plus DD is a handful . We arenβt ready for a vasectomy yet but are taking all precautions to keep us off the baby train.
