1. Got needlepoint stockings from Land's End
2. Did first names...because I have a stepdaughter and thought it would be weird to put Mom
3. With these classic stockings, they always have them just change up the designs...we each have a different one and I ordered a new one for our last LO and they all work together.
4. they are a little small so I always have overflow

@travelgirl1: sooo cute
@Reese: glad I'm not the only one who's ridiculously excited for Christmas
I'm actually buying all new ones this year since we are done having kiddos, and I'll buy at PB like end of Novemberish when they have their stocking sale. I bought an advent calendar from them last year and love it

Embroidered needlepoint stockings from Lands End. Same ones we had as kids so they are very sentimental to me. I put our first names, not mom and dad.
Lands end has 90% of the same designs from year to year with some new ones mixed in. And they all coordinate well so it's easy to add as the family grows. Plus the quality is great!

@sungirl: Yay! Another lands end fan (and another stepmom!) I always overstuff our stocking too!

@Reese: these are ours. Her great grandma made hers. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/75284
They say mom & dad.
These are made year after year,though I don't love this years designs. I expect Gigi will make stockings for future LO.

@Mrs. Pickles: thanks I swore they had a stocking sale but no one else I've talked to remembered it

Ours coordinate but do not match. We have Mom, Dad, and DD1's name. DD2 will be here soon but I haven't ordered her a stocking yet. If it's not here by her first Christmas, oh well! We will be at my parents' house anyway.

Another option is to pick a theme (i.e. all have a snowflake, all are red etc) and have none of them match. I am knitting stockings as the family grows. I knit two for DH and me after we were married and am knitting one now for LO's first Christmas. They are all different solid shades of red based mostly on what I liked most at the store, but vary in size and stitch pattern. It's been really fun to hunt out THE yarn for a stocking since it will (hopefully) be in the family for a while. I imagine that the same it true for (more sanely) buying stockings as well.

I plan on ordering from pbk soon (once we finalize LO2's name, due next month). Debated the whole first name for parents vs mom/dad and decided on actual names since stockings are supposed to be Santa things and we're not Santa's parents (just my weird logic).

@Mrs. Pickles: For some reason I thought the PB sale was after the holidays. Do the stockings still make it in time for Christmas?
@cmomma17: I will have to check that out.
@Finfan: I am being swayed back to the mom/dad stocking names...

I make ours, but I'd vote for first names. Nobody who calls me Mama is filling my sticking for the next couple of decades. I like that Christmas brings out the kid in all of us, I guess, and that's how Santa's always known me!

@rattles: LOL that's a really great point.
@jetsa: think this news might be a game changer! Do they ALL go on sale?

@Reese: just saw this. I do not remember. I have the standard velvet ones in medium but I got them for $20 including personalization and shipping

@jetsa: argh!! I'm so upset!! I already ordered them I ordered those exact stocking but didn't get them monogrammed.

@Reese: ahh no, I'm sorry. You probably got almost as good of a deal if you didn't get them monogrammed. I've seen the 25% off a few times but the $9/each for monogramming was offputting.

@Reese: I had a feeling free monogramming might come up after we bought them. We got 30% though and there is still the issue that the font might not be available for future kiddos
