This is my first time being pregnant, I am 6.5 weeks alog so still very early. Tonight while going to the bathroom I noticed my CM was tinged a bit brownish/pinkish. Very very lightly. But still, it wasnt white. I know its normal for women to spot throughout pregnancy but Im still freaking out. Should I go to the Dr? Should I be worried?

It isn't uncommon to spot in the first trimester. A tiny bit of cramping can sometimes be expected. But if you have a lot of blood and/or painful cramps, you should go to ER this weekend

I had the same thing at the same time, if that makes you feel better. No cramps. Everything turned out fine! If you do get cramps with bleeding, though, head straight to the ER.

I think brown/pink is considered old blood. I second @BabyBoecksMom: and say that if you start getting terrible cramps or the spotting turns red then go get checked out. I would just monitor the situation for now and note any changes.

My miscarriage started with cramping followed by spotting--not just in cm but all-out spotting which got worse as the night when on. I would try to stay off my feet for a while and keep an eye on it.
I know it's scary and saying "Try to relax" is pointless, but you should try...stress won't help anything. Big hugs, and I'll be thinking about you this weekend!

Oh honey. First, deep breath. Secondly, if you are worried, which I totally get, please feel free to call the on call line at your doctors, or go to the ER. I was really afraid of sounding silly, but the truth is, this is what they are there for. And if you can, take it easy tonight.

@citymouse: praying for you! I agree with some of the others, get it checked out anyway. It's probably nothing but don't feel silly, they'll be so used to people getting checked out, they won't think less of you!

This happened to me too, early on. Light pink/brown discharge once or twice. Everything turned out ok and no problems - suspect and hope it's the same for you!

The same thing happened to me around then, and I called my midwife practice just to give them a heads-up and get some reassurance. The midwife on call said that there's so much happening at that stage, it's really common to feel some light, twingy-type cramping and to see a bit of spotting. She said if the cramps started to feel more intense, the blood was red instead of pink/brown, or it went on for 24 hours without stopping, to call back right away. Fortunately, it was gone within about 6 hours so all was good -- but I think it's always a good idea to call your doctor if you're concerned about anything.

@citymouse: Oh honey, thinking of you! All these early pregnancy symptoms are so horrible in that they can range from perfectly normal to worrisome. It wreaks havoc on our minds! Take it easy this weekend and know that it's perfectly normal in most cases to have some spotting and/or cramping. I'll be thinking of you and hoping that it stops by morning and all is fine. Sending you lots of positive thoughts!

I had bright red bleeding in the first few weeks and I have a 10 month old. I know it's hard but do your best to relax. I would call your doctor to ease your mind.

I had spotting and cramps up to week 9 or 10 and everything was fine. I know the first tri is so hard, you're so excited but so nervous. I made myself sick with worry when I was spotting but every time I called in they told me it was normal as long as it didn't progress to very painful cramping or lots of red blood. I know it's nearly impossible not to worry but hopefully your doctor can give you some reassurance.

I also had brownish-pink spotting in the first trimester and I'm five days past my due date right now

Brownish goopy CM was the first sign I was pregnant (around 5 weeks). At 7 and 8 weeks I had pink/blood tinged discharge after DTD. After that second time I went to the doctor who checked me out and said everything was normal - it put my mind at ease. Now I'm 27 weeks and haven't had any sort of colored discharge since. Thinking of you and hoping you can get some peace of mind soon!

Hi ladies. No more colored CM so far. Its been white from the little bit Ive been able to see. I did have some more twinges/pulling last night before falling asleep. I slept through the night w nothing in my undies this morning. I think Im still going to call the on call Dr. today just to reassure myself. For now, it seems like things are okay, but if it shows up again I know myself too well... I will be worried.

@citymouse: I'm glad everything looks good for you today. I've been a bleeder/spotter through this entire pregnancy, and I'm now 38 weeks! It's so nerve wracking, but it can be totally normal.

@citymouse: I had this too around 6 weeks and I'm now 18 weeks with no issues. My midwife said it was likely old blood, but it could be from implantation, intercourse, old period blood, or just a sensitive cervix. The twinges are also normal and I was told not to worry unless I have both cramping and bleeding, and if the bleeding was red instead of brown. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

I spotted very tiny and miscarried, but the next pregnancy I bled bright red and lo was fine. You just never know, I would call just to be sure.

One last update for now... No additional discoloring. All back to yellowish-white. Im cramping randomly, but I have been since week 4 so that seems to be normal for now. Hopefully it stays that way. Thank you everyone!
