Nope! I don't even think I could live that small by myself. With a husband or family? No way!

This would be my dream. There's no way I could do it with a kid or my husband, but in my alternate life this is how I live.

Yes without kids! It would be great, you can't accumulate junk! I hate having junk and clutter and it seems the bigger the house the more unnecessary stuff you have just to fill it.

No. I could see living in 800 sq. ft. when we are older, but we like our space and have hobbies that require some room.

Never. I don't think I could stay in a tiny home on vacation. The beds seem to always be in these tiny lofts so you have to climb a ladder and crawl into bed. No thank you.

I am so intrigued by it and love the concept, but I could never do it myself.

I was actually just reading an article on why not to choose tiny living and the reason that resonated with me is people: people able to host, let my son have friends over, invite family to stay with me- I love people and homes are the perfect place to socialize and foster relationships.

Also, I could never be that decluttered.

Yes, if the architecture was designed to maximize light and I had a private lot with mainly a window-filled house. I would love it.

Only if I can have an extra one to store my shoes.

It depends on the size! For the longest time, OH and I wanted to live in an RV which is less than 400 sq ft. I need at least 300 with kids, 230 with just OH and 180 if it were just me. OH and I can peacefully coexist without issue in our RV for a few days now and it is only 78 sq ft. We haven't tried for longer.

Nope! Especially not with kids. I think the architecture is amazing though.

I love watching all the tiny house shows. I think I could do it only if the house was in a really good location where a lot of time can be spent outside. Tiny house in Boston? Um no.

Not with kids, but if it had decent bathroom/kitchen facilities (I'm not a great cook anyway and we do an embarrassing amount of take out) then yeah, probably. Not the smallest of the tiny houses, but I could do some of them.

@Torchwood: What makes a "small house"? Is it just a little bigger than a tiny house? That could be something I'd do in retirement/post kids.

@Trailmix: We lived in less than 600 for 6 years! 2 of those with a baby/toddler, so right there with you.

We did live in a pretty small space and I got stir crazy the last year, but it was because I work from home and my desk was in my living room and the fact that DH didn't have a garage to store projects. Other than that, we had outdoor living space, we were a 5 minute walk to the beach and we hosted a ton of parties in our long shared driveway. We will always look back at that time with fondness!

BUT, I like having a space to host. We will never live in a huge place (because we live in CA and don't make a million bucks) but the really tiny places kinda make me cuckoo. And yes to PPs who mentioned having to get up in a loft to sleep all the time. No thanks.

Nope. No way. I love watching that show too, it's so intriguing. But a tiny fridge, climbing into a cramped sleepy space, sometimes the bathrooms are outside. Uh no. Just no. And we love to have people over way too much, with or without kids.

If it was just me maybe, but i like my space so it would be a struggle.

No way, I need 1000 Sq ft all to myself.

@birdofafeather: @Trailmix: DH's and I's first apartment was 515sq ft! It was actually a two bedroom too. I loved it! The layout was super efficient. The second apartment was 800sq ft and was where we lived when lo1 was a baby. It felt luxuriously large! But the layout has a lot more wasted space.

I love the concept of tiny houses and all but I'm too claustrophobic! They make me a little nauseous just looking at them.
