I had my first orgasm since we found I was pregnant. I had some pretty strong cramps for about a minute after. Is it bad to orgasm in the first trimester? I read on other sites that some doctors tell women to abstain from sex and/or orgasm during the first trimester. I'm a little concerned.

I had that too. I had terrible cramps that lasted for like 5 minutes! I was terrified! I googled it and it seems that a lot of women experience it. There are even some women that experience it not pregnant.
I don't think in a general term that we need to abstain from sex during 1st trimester though! We're not doing anything anymore since I'm too nauseous/exhausted anyway...

It's completely normal! I would recommend staying away from Dr. Google - unless your doctor tells you to not have sex / orgasm for medical reasons, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think if a doctor is telling someone to avoid sex in the first tri (i.e. part of pelvic rest) it would be because there was a complication with their pregnancy.

I agree with the normal verdict. I started spotting maybe 8-10 hours later too so don't panic if that happens too. I was surprised by the delay but my doctor said it was normal and they always ask first about intercourse in the last 24 hours if a patient starts to spot.

There's no reason I've EVER heard for a healthy momma to abstain from orgasms during the first tri (or really any of pregnancy, as far as I know). I had 2 m/c's and it was never mentioned to me during this (3rd) pregnancy, and they were telling me any and every thing that I could do for peace of mind, so I think they'd have mentioned it if there was even a possibility it could be a risk. And as others have said, it's very, very normal to cramp afterwards!

I agree with @spaniellove. For "normal" pregnancies doctors do not put you on pelvic rest. If you had bleeding or cervix issues then a doctor would put you on pelvic rest.

Agree with PPs, very normal. And I'll second the spotting thing too. It totally freaked me out when I started spotting the day after having sex, but when I called my doctor's office, the first question was asking if I'd had sex, because that is almost always the reason behind the spotting.

very normal! Mine always caused braxton hicks! I talked to my midwife about it and she said not to worry one bit.

Normal! They were def worse for me in the first tri. Now I either don't cramp at all or it's very very mild and short cramping.
I think that if a doc says not to it's because there is a potential issue with that pregnancy.
Though I will say that in the first tri I couldn't help it! I got a lot of them in my dreams during the first tri (I guess raging hormones?) so I was always afraid if the doc told me not to that I wouldn't be able to stop! -
@Torchwood: I had to abstain with IVF but that was during the cycle....I can't remember if I had to abstain after getting my
.I'm pretty sure cramping is normal after orgasming.
