I'm not pregnant yet, but I plan on buying some cute books about grandma/grandpa and wrapping it up when it's time to tell!

We told the in-laws on Father's Day with a card. DH wrote a cute little poem on the inside and the last line was something like "are you ready, grandpa?"

With my parents, I got a picture frame that said something about grandkids. Then I put paper inside that said "Coming February 2013!"

Our parents were both really surprised and excited!

We told DH's family on Christmas. I printed this poem (stolen from the internet, and adjusted for us) on nice paper, framed and wrapped it, and put it under the tree to be opened as part of our Yankee Swap Gift Exchange. My MIL ended up being the one to choose it--which couldn't have worked out better.

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come August,
That's when they say I'm due.

I called my mom the morning we got the +, and just said "I'm pregnant!" and she said "I know!" (Long story, but she claims to have known I was pregnant a full week before I did).

I also just called my dad and stepmom (on New Years Day). Nothing special. They're lucky they didn't find out on FB.

With our friends that we like enough to not want them to find out on FB, DH told them that I had a parasite growing inside my uterus that would exit the body naturally sometime in August. One of his friends didn't get it, and was seriously worried that I was going to die. Also happens to be the smartest guy I know--just very little in the way of common sense.

For everyone else, I posted a picture from our NT Scan on FB with the update "David McK is going to be a Daddy, and I'm pretty sure it's mine".

I made a hat for our dog that said "I'm going to be a big brother!"

My dad and his wife came over on Father's Day, and I was 7 weeks. We gave him his card then handed him a picture of the ultrasound. He had no idea what it was! For the in-laws, my husband just called them, they both live in New York. We've asked all the parents to not tell extended family members until we're ready to share the news. One of the main reasons why, is that DH's uncle is a Facebook fanatic and would surely let it slip up there!
