I'm a little confused about this, some say dental work is ok, some say certain procedures are ok... Anybody ever lose a filling and have it fixed while pregnant? Gah!!!

Apparently the white filings are fine, it's just the metal ones that aren't good during pregnancy.

I had an emergency root canal done at 41 weeks pregnant! The poor dentist told me that if I went into labour she was calling an ambulance
I also had routine dental work done in my first trimester and had no issues. Just let your dentist know and I'm sure they'll act accordingly.

I lost some fillings that I had filled last month while pregnant in the 1st trimester. They had to remove the old metal ones and replace with white (new office only does white). The only issue I encountered was my dentist needing a clearance from my OB/GYN office. I originally went to an appointment for a routine cleaning and my dentist required the clearance for that as well.

At my office we require an ob clearance letter, but most procedures are fine to have while pregnant!

I had a root canal done at around 7 months. My endodontist was never concerned about it- I had whatever they use that's not Novocaine for the procedure. The only thing they did different was to give me 2 vests to wear for the x-rays. The part that sucked was not being able to take any real painkillers afterwards.

Oh good, I feel better about calling and scheduling now! I have super super sensitive teeth (along with a mile long list of other things wrong) and I have to be numbed for almost everything...

I just had a filling filled this week. My OB approved it and everything I read said in the second trimester it was no big deal. My OB just said no gas, only local anesthetic.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled during my second trimester. I had the oral surgeon clear all the meds and local anesthesia with my ob. I was prescribed tylenol 3 afterwards but amazing had no pain so never took any.

We usually wait to do any work in your second trimester or with a letter of clearance from your OB in my office.
