Which week did you have it done?
I'm thinking of surprising DH with one for Father's Day, but the place I want to go doesn't do gift vouchers, I have to pre-book a date. We had a 4D preview at our 17wk gender reveal, but it wasn't great quality as she was so tiny. Just wondering what is the best time when she will look relatively like a newborn...

What's a bonding scan?
We had a 3d one (well 4d but I have no idea where the dvd went!) done, because we were able to get a discount. I don't know how accurate it really was, but it was fun. ETA ours was at 28+ weeks I think... somewhere right at the end of the "ideal" time frame listed...but she was pretty squished in there so I wish I had gone more in the middle of the ideal time frame.

@googly-eyes: It's the same thing, they just call it that here for some reason! The time frame is 24-32wks and I was thinking about going around wk28, but maybe given what you've said I should go sooner?

I heard the ideal time frame for 4D is 30-32 weeks, we will be doing one then. If you want to surprise him think up something you might have to do (dinner with a relative, or a doctor's appt he would have to go to, etc) and "schedule" it with him so he is available!

I didn't have one but was told the best time to get one is between 28 and 34 weeks, that's when they can get the best photos/video.
@kjpugs: that sounds right! when I went in a 20 weeks (anatomy scan), they said he was too small and at 39 weeks (BPP) we couldn't see anything because it was pretty packed in there. I wanted to go to a freestanding ultrasound place but DH wouldn't let me. boo

@rachiecakes: that's where we're doing ours! We did our early gender u/s there so we get a discount for a 3d/4d one with DVD's for grandparents. They live out of state so we thought that would be nice. She recommended 30-32 weeks when we told her we were considering it 
It sure does get PACKED in there by 39!!!!

@illumina: Oh ok! It seems like other people go later than I did, wow. I remember others on my bbc birth club having the same problem as I did, but I also know someone who went within a day of me who was due a few days before me that got really great photos. I think I'd go around 28 weeks again, maybe 27. But then again I wasn't going for total accuracy..and I had another scan coming up at my doctor's office so I knew I'd get to see lo again!

I went to have one at 27 weeks and baby girl did not feel like having her picture taken, so we're going back in a week (I'll be 30 weeks) to try again. She still looked a little skinny at 27 weeks...I am hoping she plumps up by next week!

we had ours at 28 weeks. the place we went to recommended 26-32 weeks, i think.
it worked well for us at 28 weeks, though.

We got it as a gift from my sisters - there were 12 people in my room during it! We went at 29 weeks and it really bonded DH and my family to the baby here are a couple pics - the second DS is playing with his foot.

My mom wants to take me to a 3D/4D place for my birthday. I'll be 30 weeks by then.
