Yes I had it! I'm SO grateful to live in a world where this technology exists! I'm also over 35 so had it right at 10 weeks and by 12 weeks, we already knew the baby didn't have Down's, Turner's (I think) and whatever the other disease is they check for. We knew all of that before we even had our 12 week integrated scan (NT test) which was amazing. No downside to getting it.. we would've paid whatever was necessary, but it was covered 100% by our insurance. ETA: I'd just call your insurance and ask what it would cost - depending on what your co-pay 'schedule' is, the most you'd have to pay is $250.

I had it somewhere around 12 weeks (in October). My insurance covered some of it and we paid $250 or so out of pocket. I didn't have to do the 2nd screening because the results were good. I appreciated the peace of mind.

Yes, my insurance covered it 100% so there was no downside to having it done since it's just a simple blood draw!

@spaniellove: I heard about it from a friend but am pretty sure my OB offered it and I didn't have to ask. But again that's because I was 'eligible' for it being over 35.

I didn't have any trouble getting it done because my hospital is one of the 'approved' facilities for it - but there actually aren't too many of those. I'd ask either your OB or the Maternal/Fetal Medicine Dept where you are delivering about it. Even if they don't offer it, they can probably refer you to a nearby provider who can. I think there is a similar test called Harmony that's put out by a different lab but is the same test.

I got a similar test, called the Verifi. I wish my dr. had had Maternit21, I would have rather had that one because it can tell you the gender. But our hospital only offered Verifi. It took about a week to get results. I felt a lot better having had it, enough that I decided against doing an amnio.

I did it because I had some downs markers, so it was nice to get the peace of mind. I was told it might not be covered by insurance, and sure enough it wasn't, but it was still worth it. I was told it could come back inconclusive, also. Mine came back with solid results so this was not an issue for me. Had it been inconclusive, they'd have recommended an amnio.

I had it because we had a soft marker at our 18 week scan. It was very easy, blood test and we got the results in 10 days. My insurance covered some of it, we were told we will need to pay $200. I think it's amazing that such a test exists!
