We vaccinate on an alternative schedule and delayed Hep
B. She's all caught up to the normal schedule, it just took us a little longer.

I'll go "other." Baby's still not here, but we fully plan on vaccinating on schedule. That being said, if baby has a reaction or a compromised immune system, we'll reevaluate.

The only one that I don't know that we'll do is Guardasil, but that's a) if we have a girl, b) at least 10 years away, and c) if the protocol hasn't changed much by then. If and when we get there, we'll revisit it. I just know that when I was trying to decide whether or not to get it for myself, I was pretty conflicted about its usefulness. I ended up getting one shot and never got any of the boosters.

@lamariniere: that has got to be confusing to keep up with!

With my 1st I admit I was scared of the MMR and autism link - so I postponed that one until he was 3. Everything else was on time.

With my 2nd I did everything on time.

We do them based on the pedi's schedule. She has to have them for day care.

@lamariniere: @looch: impressive book keeping! We've moved states quite a bit, and I know how challenging it can be keeping all of my own medication records straight. I'm not sure I'd be as good moving countries and trying to keep a handle on a moving target like vaccination schedules. Guess it just goes to show how you really have to be your child's own advocate and understand the systems in which you're working!

@LovelyPlum: Switzerland makes it really simple. You get a little booklet with the schedule. When you get the immunization, the nurse peels of a little section of the label on the bottle and attaches it to the booklet, along with the doctor's special stamp. It's cool because I know exactly what lot the vaccinations came from. I wish the US would implement something similar. It takes the guess work out of things.

We vaccinated fully and on schedule. In fact, because DH is on an immune-suppressant medication, we qualify for additional shots (non essential ones, like chicken pox) and I'm very seriously considering them.

As far as the alleged autism link goes, I really don't buy it but even if I did I would much rather my girl have autism than not be here at all. I very nearly died from measles when I was a toddler - it's scary stuff.

I chose the first option. But we live abroad and the schedule here is slightly delayed compared to the US.

@kiddosc: interesting, I didn't know that. We'll definitely have to talk about that one when baby is older. I have never been anti-vax, but for whatever reason, there's something about Gardasil that rubs me the wrong way. Or at least, it did when I was first researching it.

@looch: ooh, I want one of those books! That sounds like a fabulous idea.

@looch: We have that here, too! (the sticker, booklet thingy). In fact, we get presented with a "red book" at birth and all the child's health checks are recorded in there over the years - height, weight checks, vaccines, hearing test etc. It's brilliant.

We vaccinate fully and on schedule. Our pediatrician also requires it, though we would vaccinate even if it wasn't required.

@looch: Ooh that works for me, too! You can't lose online records!! I've lost count of the number of parents at the vaccination clinics who say they've lost their child's book.

We made our own schedule with our Pedi's help, so that LO only receives 1 vaccine at a time. He says that many parents are choosing to go this route. We were not comfortable with a bunch of shots and vaccines all at once, so we go monthly. LO is 16 months and is mostly caught up on her vaccines (except for Hep A and Chickenpox). It is a pain to go every month, but it is much easier on LO and she never has any reactions or is out of it/in pain from them.

Fully vaccinated and on schedule. DH is a scientist and his work is focused on vaccine delivery in developing nations so he is totally pro vaccine and gets so heated/passionate about it.
