I did and I kind of regret it. I've thought about changing it back. But I think DH would be crushed.

Yes, it was important to me. I think it was important to my husband too but we didn't really discuss it since I knew I wanted to. I didn't feel any external pressure. I like to think everyone would have understood if I hadn't but I'm glad I did. I know it happens all the time but I think it would feel strange to me to have a different last name than my husband and son.

I did, although for years I always said that I wouldn't. DH, my parents (although my mom is very traditional and although she probably didn't agree, she also didn't poo-poo the idea) and ILs were supportive of my decision. Bit a few months before we got married, I began to explore the idea a bit more. We knew we wanted kids, and I decided I wanted all of us to have the same last name. I don't like hyphens, so I assumed his. 25w pregnant now, and I'm glad I did.

Yes. I didn't feel strongly about it either way and he preferred I do, so I did. My last name became my middle.

I did three years after we got married. I thought it was a romantic gesture and did it on our anniversary to surprise DH. He didn't care.

Yes, I changed it right away. I didn't like my maiden name, and have no connection to my father. I was happy to get rid of it...plus my new last name is MUCH better!

depends who you ask... on the marriage license you had to declare what your name would be after the wedding and it's hyphenated on there, but i never changed it most places. i never wanted to change my name. i love my name, my married name is bad with my first name, like REALLY bad, julia gulia style bad. i agreed i would change it everywhere to the hyphenated name if there were children, mr bird felt strongly about it. on children's books or movies that are mine but get borrowed, i write only mr. bird's last name, because that would be the last name any children would have and it would make him upset if they had things with my maiden name on them. i asked him if he wanted to change his last name if sharing a last name was important to him, nope. his father suggested i change my first name if i don't like how my name sounds with their last name.

I changed mine and kept my maiden name as my middle name. I like my new last name, it's easier to pronounce but I still have the same first/last initials!

Nope. I kept my birth name and we gave our daughter my birth name as her second middle name. We will do the same for all our LOs as they are a joint production!
