I've been drinking tons of water and eating lots of bananas but I still get crazy leg cramps in the middle of the night. So frustrating!

Yup! I had never experienced a leg cramp (and I used to be a runner) until pregnancy. Coconut water and doing leg stretches before bed & when I woke helped a lot.

Yup! Being good about stretching daily made the biggest difference for me!

I used to get them when I was a kid my dad called them growing pains.

YES! I can almost guarantee myself a Charlie Horse in my sleep if I stretch my legs and point my feet! argh! I've been trying to drink tons of Coconut Water to get more potassium.

I got them while pregnant. I got to the point that I could feel them coming on and I would flex my foot to stop it. DH would get freaked out because I would all of a sudden jump up and start screaming.

@mrskc: DH told me I was screaming at him last night. I guess I begged him to cut off my leg...haha! I don't remember that part of my cramp!

I think I did once and I got almost cramps that I would stretch out before they fully came on...but not too bad. The things that pregnancy does to you!

Yes!! They were truly horrible!! I tried all the tricks to stop them too and none of them worked

Yes and it was awful to be awaken in the middle of the night by awful leg cramps. Before going to bed I would stretch my legs. I'm not sure if there's a connection, but after taking calcium supplements I rarely got leg cramps again.

OMG YESSSSS! It was SOOO painful! I totally remember the leg cramps! I always get them when I stretched my legs so I stopped stretching them. But sometimes I would forget and stretch my legs while I was sleeping and wake up with excruciating pain! My OB told me that some women put a bar of dove soap under their bed sheets and swore that it worked. Apparently it's an old wive's tale but he said it that it doesn't hurt to try it!

Sooooo awful - I had 4-5. DH had one towards the end and finally understood what the pain was like - he was much more sympathetic then,,,

Ugh yes, they're awful. Drinking a banana milkshake before bed seemed to help

I get them almost every night! I have gotten to where I feel them coming, though, so I can flex right before the painful attack.

I had an absolutely awful leg cramp last night! I'm totally going to start stocking up on bananas before bed.

Yes, although I have noticed that I usually don't get them the nights I go to the gym. I also have Restless Leg Syndrome, which pregnancy has made worse, so I wake up with leg issues all the time.

Yes- they seem to be better on days that I went for a long walk, though.
I find that wiggling my toes and flexing gently works better than a hard flex.

Yep, i get them, especially if i stretch out in the morning! Coconut water is also good--it has more potassium than a banana!
