I don't drink diet soda, only regular. I didn't give up the regular, but I only drink it 1-3 times a week anyways.

I did. My doctor specifically told me that diet pop is safe while pregnant, but I haven't drank it anyhow.

I was CRAZY addicted to Coke Zero before getting pregnant but stopped drinking it when I finally got pregnant. I stopped because of the caffeine and artificial sweetener. I miss it so much.

I gave it up pre-pregnancy because I wanted to drink lots of water while pregnant and had a serious Diet Coke addiction. I only had 1-2 the entire pregnancy, but have slipped back into having 1 a day since he arrived.

I've had one since finding out but I didnt drink much before anyway because I dont do well on caffeine. If I was better with it I don't think I'd be aa strict.

Yes, DH really questions the safety of artificial sweeteners (and the process of decaffeination, actually) so it was no diet soda and no decaf coffee for me! I had regular soda a handful of times total and caffeinated tea or coffee maybe twice a week.

Yes, to avoid both. I drank a lot of ginger beer. Not sure I'll be so strict on the caffeine next time round!

I voted no, but I'll have maybe 1 diet coke every other week.
Before we started TTC, I was drinking 2 cans/day.

I had a diet coke every week or two, but that's how often I drink it not pregnant as well.

@Mrs. Lion: Honestly, I only ever drank diet soda (or even reg. soda) with alcohol as a cocktail. Now that alcohol's off the table, so is the pop! And I know it has nothing good in it for either baby or I nutritionally anyway.

I did for the aspartame. I think in general it isn't that great for us and I didn't want to expose my baby while in utero. I am trying to limit diet soda in general to more of a treat vs. an every day item. It's hard, but I'm doing OK thus far. It helps that my baby is a year old now and wants to share everything. I really can't have anything I can't give him!

I gave up diet coke but I may have still had diet sprite or something without caffeine? Probably. I still voted yes because the only one I drank regularly was diet coke and I gave that up. Next time I don't think I'm going to though. I'll cut back but not give it up completely. Oh, and I've cut back a lot anyway since before getting pregnant with lo. I no longer buy them for home, just while we are out, and not all the time.

I didn't vote because I can't remember the last time I drank a diet soda so I didn't specifically give it up for pregnancy. But I didn't cut coffee or an occasional regular coke.

I think the Aspartame is worse than the caffeine, but when my midwife friend told me that babies take 7 times longer to get things like caffeine out of their tiny bodies, I avoided it for most of my pregnancy. I always say better safe than sorry!
