Alittle bit. In the perfect world I would've wanted girl, girl, boy. My first was a girl so I was hoping my second was as well so they could be close in age but my second is a boy. So since we had one of each we stopped at 2 kids. In hindsight, this worked out perfectly because I can only handle two kids max. but I am a bit sad my daughter won't get a sister like I have!

Were like 75% positive that #2 is a boy and we find out for sure in a week. I'm a little disappointed for my daughter that she wont have a sister close in age (3y3m) and all those beautiful clothes i've been holding on to was for naught. But in general I've very excited for a boy. We havent closed the door on #3 yet either so we'll see how it plays out.

Extremely happy with 2 girls! DH is too, but I think it's b/c we always thought we'd have 2 girls regardless of whether he wants a boy or not.

We were initially a little disappointed when we found out our second was going to be a boy because we wanted to have one of each, but this disappointment was extremely short lived when, at the same appointment, we talked to the genetic counselor who wanted to discuss some of the findings on the ultrasound regarding two chromosomal abnormalities. That put things into perspective for us and we only wanted a health baby at that point!

I did the second time (I imagined I would have all girls) but I absolutely love having one of each now. If we have a third I can honestly say I would be thrilled with either gender.

@sorrycharlie: same, I'm thrilled to have two girls, and deep down really wanted a sister for DD1. But DH was a little bit sad because he wanted a boy and we are pretty sure we are done with two.

Also the whole gender/ sex thing- I try to use them appropriately but sex disappointment and sex reveal are two phrases that just don't sound right.

@sorrycharlie: same as you. I was so so happy to be having girls but DH was pretty disappointed the second time around. We are a maybe 3 family and while I'd like to have a son I have strong feeling we would have a third girl (which I would adore, I never had sisters so that sounds like so much fun to me!)

@Foodnerd81: haha am 100% with you. In talking to people I try to refer to "the sex of our baby" but...yeah...I can't imagining trying to order a cake for a "sex reveal party"'

Not at all for me. I have always wanted to have a little girl and now I have 2! DH just wanted for me to have my dreams come true. We battled 5 years of IF with DD1 and then DD2 was a happy surprise that took us 2 years (without any medical help for DD2). I am mostly sad that we aren't having any more kids. DH feels super old now (he's 45) so that trumps him wanting to try for a 3rd. I would be happy with 3 girls but he's firm about no more kids!

No, but I wanted a girl. I think I would've been slightly disappointed if it had gone the other way.

Nope, not at all! Two girls and very happy. If we do decide to go for a third...I want another girl!

It wasn't that I wanted one or the other, but I'd just always thought of myself as a mom to a girl. I'm so close with my mom and sister that I thought I would have girls, but it wasn't a preference. During the pregnancy my husband and I both referred to the baby as she. When the ultrasound tech said it was a boy I was shocked. I sort of had to take a moment to mourn the daughter I thought I was going to have for a second. I knew instantly that we were lucky to have a healthy baby, but I was a little sad. Now that my son is a year and a half I couldn't imagine it any other way. I'm pregnant again and prepared and happy to take whatever biology has cooked up.

Yes, initially. I 100% don't now, but I was a disappointed when we found out LO2 was a boy. I really wanted a sister for DD, but now that I know DS I have no disappointment at all. He is amazing. I feel guilty for ever being disappointed!

this board is just like my real life experience, at least for the first baby: with one exception, *everyone* I know wanted a girl. the ones who got one were thrilled, the ones who got boys were either very slightly disappointed, or so happy and grateful they didn't care, even though deep down they did prefer a girl.

@LCTBQE: funny because i can think of two families who were DEAD SET on baby #1 being a boy. like to the point where i am pretty sure they would have had some disappointment fairly evident!

@birdofafeather: wow, no kidding! the only people I know who ever deeply, obviously experienced gender disappointment had it with their second or third (usually last), if it turned out they weren't going to get one of each or something. my MIL had 4 boys before she finally got her girl--I've never asked if that's why she kept going

None! I am thrilled with 2 girls, and I would have been equally thrilled with 2 boys, or one of each, even though now it's hard to imagine my family any other way.
