DH & I are kicking around the idea of inviting our parents to the 18 week U/S. I'm not super crazy about the inlaws seeing my bare pregnant belly but its something neither side has ever experienced. That and seeing twins during a U/S is pretty amazing! I'm afraid my mom will be loud & embarrassing...
Did you invite anyone to any of your U/S? If so who was it & are you glad you did it? We should find out the sex of the babies during this one

I invited my MIL to our optional ultrasound but she couldn't make it!

I did not. It felt like a very private time between me and Dh (and the u/s tech). But we are pretty private anyway- no one at the hospital during labor, very few visitors this first week.
That said I bet seeing twins is really cool and in sure it would be an awesome experience for the grandparents. I guess I'm just selfish and wanted it all to myself

My mom came to our anatomy scan. She went to my sisters and I could tell she wanted to come and feel involved so we invited her. It was fun having her three, she was so excited.

My MIL was there for the anatomy scan (although we did not find out the sex). She was ecstatic because she didn't have an ultrasound with any of her kids, and didn't have a daughter who might invite her. It meant a lot to her.

I have ultrasounds every 4 weeks. DH couldn't come to the 17 week anatomy scan, so my mom and sister went with me. For the next one, we asked MIL just in case she wanted to come. I think she feels superstitious or something because she had a m/c before she had DH and she was nervous during the whole time she was pregnant. So, we asked, but she didn't go.

We only had one with S, and we wanted it to be just DH and I since we were finding out the sex.
I don't want to bring anyone besides to DH to an ultrasound with me, until we find out the sex on this one. I'm supposed to have a lot more of them this time around, though, so I'll probably bring DS to a few, after we found out what it is.
Not sure about parents. My MIL would probably want to go...maybe I'll invite her and my mom (separate times) if I have enough of them.

I asked my SIL to come to our on the 5th but she won't be able to make it but other than that I don't think I'm too comfortable asking anybody else I don't even think I'll let my mom in the Delivery room just me, DH, and the hospital staff that's needed

@Foodnerd81: I felt the same way about keeping it to ourselves but once DH explained his feelings on it I started considering letting our parents in. That is if they Dr. office will even let everyone in for it... His step mom, who was more of a mom to him then his real mom, was never able to have kids so DH is the closest thing she has to a child. I've been more open to her involvement now that I realized how big of a deal this is to her. It kinda pulled on the heart strings a little.

I had biweekly ultrasounds for the last three weeks so I invited a friend. It was fun having her there & the tech was super nice.
I went to a friend's 4D ultrasound, I loved it!

@rachiecakes: I forgot I'll be having a crap ton of U/S towards the end. Biweekly & weekly. I could totally have just DH & I for the 18 week U/S & invite parents to a later one! Oh I think I'm liking this idea!

I invited my mom since they didn't have ultrasound when I was bOrn. She loved it and we were already pretty sure of the gender.

My mom came with me to one because she was visiting from out of town and DH couldn't go. I had a bunch though. If I only had the normal amount I would've wanted it to just be DH and me.

I didn't go to any appointments by myself and I have an ultrasound at each one. DH has only been able to make it to 3, so my mom came to the first one, my BFF has been to two, and my youngest sister came to the one where we found out she was a girl.

My mom ended up at one, but it was a completely different situation - I was having horrible pains around 14 weeks, and she was the closest person since DH was at work, so she took me to the ER and stayed with me until DH was able to get there, including for the ultrasound they had to do to make sure everything was okay.
I wouldn't invite anyone other than DH in for a routine ultrasound - I know some people do, just like some people want others in the room while they're delivering, but those kind of things are experiences DH and I wanted to ourselves as we started our own new family.

I was gifted a 3D/4D u/s at Babymoom that we used at 29 weeks. We had DH's parents, DH's gramma, my parents, BIL, 2 sisters and neice. The room fit 1 more. It was awesome because it was set in a comfy room with a huge TV. It really bonded DH (and the whole family) to the baby.
DH's gramma had 4 kids but this was her first time seeing an u/s.

also, for LO#2's anatomy scan, the ultrasound tech's didnt even let DH in until near the end of the scan (for LO#1 he was there the whole time -- different hospital). he was kinda dissapointed because he took the afternoon off work to come and only got to see a little bit. i think every hospital/centre has different rules, so it would be worth it to check first! that would be sad if people came but were not allowed in :*(

No parents in the area, so we won't be. But for my pregnancy last year, I asked a close friend to come to the initial 6.5w ultrasound since DH was traveling. This was an IVF pregnancy. It turned out not to be good news, so I was glad for some moral support (DH participated via skype video).
This time around (4 more cycles later), I've done most u/s alone or with DH only.

My mom and younger sister joined DH and I at our anatomy scan. We were all pretty confident LO was a girl, but it was a special moment when it was confirmed in the office.

We didn't because my OB's office didn't allow it. However, we got every ultrasound on DVD. We just brought a blank one to the tech each time. I love those DVDs! Far away family like my parents were able to share in it, plus DH and I experienced it privately first.

Well I called & the OB will allow it. The gal made it sounds like 3 extra guest wasn't a lot lol. I bit the bullet & invited our parents. When DH mentioned it to his they sounded excited. My mom was over the moon. I just hope she doesn't steal the spotlight... well find out in 3 weeks!

We had my mom & MIL go to the anatomy scan (we already knew the gender, or else it would have been just DH and I)
We have a 3D U/S in a week and a half and invited them to come back, as well as FIL and my dad.

My mom came to our 20 week anatomy scan! She was a little awkward during it, but I'm glad we got share the moment with her. Our baby is her first grandchild!
