Did you miss work during the first tri? For things like morning sickness, pain, spotting etc not just for check ups. How much work?

I missed one day because if a stomach bug but nothing pregnancy related.

I slacked off for sure --- I work from home and in sales, so it didn't effect too much. I just napped and started later than I normally would. I think I called in sick once because I had a bad head ache and there was no way I could get anything done.

I somehow called out sick only twice for the worst days of morning sickness. I cried on my way to work and nearly barfed my way through most of the other days. Would've loved to just take the whole trimester off! Or heck, the whole pregnancy!

@T.H.O.U.: nope! I was still in school and trying to graduate so I was there everyday!

No, I didn't miss any work at all for pregnancy other than doc appointments. But I wasn't ever as sick as some.

I was freelancing at that time and was bound to the bed/sofa/bathroom until we finally got the right combo of meds to make me at least able to function. I didn't take any new work on until week 10. Had I been in an office I'd probably have taken about 5 weeks sick.

So far I haven't. There was a few days there that I really wanted to skip, but I worked through it. My work performance, however, has definitely suffered since I've been sick. Luckily I work for myself lol!

I missed a day and a half because of a cold. I couldn't take anything for it and was sneezing/sniffling non-stop. My office has a "don't come to work if you're sick" policy that they take seriously and I was starting to get weird looks, so I stayed home. The day of rest really did wonders for me!

I only missed work for my doctor appointments, 3. It was hard coming up with excuses I was coming in late.

Yes I did, I was miserable, vomitting all day logn. I had to tell my boss early on about it beacuse he was very suspecious. I finally said I'm pregnant, only 8 weeks, but I'm sick all day long. I finally brokedown and took Zofran and that was a lifesaver (and probably a job saver haha)

I only missed one day (I was spotting at 7 weeks and went in the next day for a u/s). I definitely had to leave a few patient's rooms to throw up in the bathroom though. Yuck. 12 hour overnight shifts were no fun while pregnant

I ended up quitting because I literally could not get out of bed most days, or I was hugging the toilet. Work was really good about it but I felt horrible that I was never able to go in so I handed in my resignation. I ended up in hospital a few times for dehydration because I was throwing up so much.

Just half of one day. I was really, really sick and most of my first trimester I had my office door closed all day because even with Zofran I was barfing in my office trashcan (zexy!! Lol) The company/environment I was in when I was pregnant was hard enough; I definitely wasn't going to take sick time for anything pregnancy related unless I was on my deathbed. I would have lost credibility and respect

Not yet, and I am hoping not to take any so I can save up for leave but this nausea is no joke. Thank god for office doors!

I missed three days because I got a kidney infection in the first trimester.
For morning sickness, though, my office garbage can saw a lot of action.

I only missed one day because of spotting. I did throw up in front of some students though, lol. Not fun.

I didn't miss any work, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without Zofran!

I missed two days for spotting and an ER visit. I would have missed much, much more had it not been for Zofran! As it was, I wasn't very productive.

I got sent home one day because I threw up before I went in, although I think it was a stomach bug... Then another manager covered my shifts for the two days following.

I went home one day for morning sickness, and stayed home another day because I had a wicked cold (and couldn't take any cold drugs!)
Then once, at the start of second tri, I called in sick because my coworker was annoying the heck out of me and I was too hormonal to handle it.

I had doctor appt every week for almost 4wk and had to take half day each time bc my doctor is hour away. Otherwise no, but I work from home so it's really easy to get through the day

I caught norwalk when I was 9 weeks so I missed 2 days with that. ( Luckily I caught it at the end of my rotation, so had 2 sicks days then 5 days off. ) Then like 2 weeks later I caught a terrible head cold and couldn't function. The Dr told me I had to take my full rotation off, so I think I was off for 4-5 days for that. I think that's it. I think I went home sick once but that might have been closer to the third tri. I hate missing work, those were the only days I've been off sick in like 4 years. I usually have a crazy strong immune system, but pregnancy certainly changed that.

I missed one day when I just could not handle the morning sickness. Looking back and remembering how terrible I felt I am surprised I didn't end up missing more time - other than the one day it was all just for appointments.

There were many many days that I wanted to but I only have a limited amount of days I can take and roll over to this year that I will need when the baby is here. There were days I was throwing up while walking out the door but I pushed myself (and then crashed when I got home from work).

Yep - had to call in sick this Monday because i just could not get out of bed from the bad nausea - hopefully that's it though!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
I took a day for horrible nausea and a day for a migraine but that was it.
persimmon / 1135 posts
we had weekly appts during most of our first tri since we were with an RE so that was annoying with work, and then a few days where i was sick or left early with a migraine

I missed a day for exhaustion at eight weeks. We had two Tuesday evenings with parent conferences. The first evening I was so tired afterwards, my nausea was worse for the following three days. The second evening I advised I would be taking sick leave the following day and slept almost all of that day!

I don't think I miss a full day of work, however I did leave early on certain days. I told my boss very early on about my pregnancy and he was very understanding when I didn't feel good.
pineapple / 12234 posts
I didn't, but I did leave early 4 or 5 times because I was vomiting non-stop.

I called in one day because I was miserable from morning sickness and extreme fatigue.

I missed one day for a cough and cold, not pregnancy related.
I've had a lot of nausea and vomiting but it hasn't caused me to miss any work.
