My baby's belly stump fell off this morning so I threw it away. I heard some parents save it and display it in baby books!

Nope! Threw it out....I couldn't imagine he'd be very interested in it when he got older.

@autumnlove: my mom made me wrap it up in a red envelope and put it in a old tote of her clothes. Chinese superstition...I forget why.

haha no. But I did save it for a few days debating whether I wanted to keep it. Then ultimately decided to throw it away.

We never found hers once it came off....we think the dog ate it.

@cheert16: LOs fell off and got stuck to me. So I screamed and did the "ew ew ew" while my husband laughed at me.
Sooo no we didn't keep it

SO thought it was gross to save it, so I secretly saved it and hid it......not sure where LOL.

@highwire: eww! Lol!
I debated it. Saved it. Tossed it, but went back to retrieve it. DH did not understand.. But I tossed it after a few days.

We put it in a shoebox where we keep other items like his hospital bracelet and first hat. My husband's parents save everything and they passed that down to my husband (not quite hoarder status, but bordering on it...).

I did! I actually just threw it away (10 months later).
G was a few days old when my mom told me she saved my sisters. I remember telling her that was 'SO GROSS.' When his fell off I was strangely attached to it and put it in a little container in my nursing basket.
Found it the other day and didn't feel as attached so I tossed it!

@wheres_c: haha that will be a fun surprise if he finds it!

ahh ew! I was sentimental when it fell off - a little bit - but never would have saved it.

Haha, I saved it. It's with her other baby stuff.

Seriously, the thought of saving it makes me want to gag. I pitched both my LOs stumps as soon as they fell off, didn't even wait to show DH. Too gross!

Fell off when DH was changing him, he left it on the change table and told me in case I wanted to keep it. Ewww, no thanks, I was so glad when it came off.

I had no idea people even did this! I can't imagine saving it. I am not very sentimental though and hate holding on to things!

@highwire: This is totally what will happen to us! Our dogs eat everything.

I saved it but I have NO idea why!!! My mom told me to...so I did it. It's in a Ziploc bag in the cedar chest now. I have no clue what I'll ever do with it.

I felt weird throwing part of her away, but it was gross so in the bin it went.

The hospitals in Japan give you a small wooden keepsake box with LO's name and birthdate on the back for you to save the stump. LO's stump fell off during our week in the hospital, so the nurses wrapped it in tissue and put it in the box for us. I didn't know what it was at first and opened it, then, saw the stump. My mom still has the same kind of box with my stump.
