A recent thread made me cry (it was gold so I won't talk about it) but it made me remember how I would cry during every birthing show on TV when pregnant! Giving birth is so special and amazing...it makes me want to do it all over again!! Even after crazy pregnancies - so worth it.

I think I cry more now, having been through the experience and knowing how intensely emotional it is.

All the time. I still get emotional even seeing people on TV shows give birth.

When I was still TTC (after a long struggle with IF) I watched Giuliana Rancic's son's birth via surrogate and I just bawled. While pregnant now I've been watching some "A Baby Story" but I'm not as connected to them.

I still watch them and STILL cry like a little baby. Meeting baby for the first time? Come on, nothing tops that!

Never.. they always just made me really really angry. lol
I did cry when I read awesome birth stories though & the few natural/home birth videos my MW gave me to watch.

I watched them and they made me more scared than emotional!! But the births I watched and cringed at were like kittens and candy floss compared to my actual experience!!

I watched them while TTC!! While I was pregnant I couldn't get through them without having a complete emotional breakdown!

I was careful which ones I watched- no scary ones only calm, regular births. Um, and maybe some 16 and Pregnant.
I have always cried during birth scenes, even in stupid movies. It's only gotten worse since being pregnant and having C. I also cry when the pregnant teens on MTV actually have supportive moms of their own. Such a sap.

I did during my first pregnancy. I don't really know of many out right now.... probably because I only watch on demand.

Yes! A child coming into the world, no matter how (home, hospital, natural, medicated, c-section) is so beautiful. I always cry and it makes me so excited to meet my LO. I also take issue with describing one way as "natural" since I consider birthing a child, however you do it, a natural event, and I certainly wouldn't call any means "unnatural."

@erinpye: yes! I very much agree. It's a beautiful event no matter how it happens. I can't necessarily relate to a c-section birth but watching them still makes me emotional. The look on new parents face's is the best.

I never watched any birthing shows as i was too scared to and didn't really think about seeking out shows to watch. I watched some videos in my prental classes though. I don't think I cried.

Only while TTC, while pregnant I haven't been as interested in thinking that far ahead. I liked seeing all of the different options out there, there are so many different ways to bring a baby into the world, everyone has their own ideal way of doing it.

Never when I was pregnant. I was too nervous I'd see complications or a dramatic birth scene or something being wrong with the baby. Obviously I knew all the possibilities but i didn't want to go there during pregnancy. I watched them before and after, though.

@PurpleUnicorn: Generally they make birth really scary, you rarely see any kind of informed consent (usually providers are telling moms what is going to happen whether augmented with pit or arom), and most natural moms or moms that do ask about having minimal interventions are scoffed at, sighed about, or mocked.. I saw this on obem when a mom wanted to go natural & they were going to start pit on her (they didn't ask, they told her) b/c no progress had been made in the whole 1 hour she was there... the nurse said "oh yea you say that now". It made me really sad & knowing the stats of places like the farm really anger me at how different the outcomes are for shows like this & practices that do believe in normalizing birth, respecting informed consent, and never scoffing at a laboring mom regardless of choice.
I'm all for moms making whatever choices they want, but you can't give informed consent if you aren't told the risks involved & most of all if you aren't ASKED if you're okay with that route/procedure.
I do cry when I see babies born though & love birth regardless of route... I just wish they depicted birth as NORMAL (considering the majority of women will do it atleast once) and that they did a better job of respecting informed consent (considering that's such a huge foundation of medical practice).

They were weird and gross to me before I had one of my own. I did watch two birth documentaries but had to force myself hahaha. But now I do think they are beautiful!
I once watched a European c-section and loved it- it was so touching and happy!

oh yes! but once i went over due i had to stop because i resented all the mamas that were having their baby! ha!
@grizz: that commercial gets me every time. i really view it as my lo talking to me and it kills me!

I would watch them like crazy. Mr. Hedgie used to make fun of me for it. Hell, I STILL love them! I just haven't had time since DD was born.

@grizz: I just you tubed it and am bawling right now! My goodness, pregnancy hormones are in overdrive! I sobbed, literally big, fat, ugly cry sobbed at the post @HLK208 is referring to in her original post, then I was sobbing at Toy Story 3 last night, now I'm sobbing at that commercial. Seriously, the waterworks need to calm the F down!
And to HLK, yes, I used to love watching birth shows, long before I even got pregnant, and would cry every single time! We don't get any on the telly here so I haven't watched any in a while, but I love them. That just reminds me, I can stream OBEM and watch episodes on my computer....might go do that now, because you know I haven't been crying enough or anything lately!

I don't watch birth shows. They've never been interesting for me, for some reason. I only like the end, where they do the follow up and show baby at home.

I watched one or two, just to see what was going to happen! I won't for #2 whenever we try...unless I feel hormonal and want to!

I used to watch them when I had baby fever- I thought that watching a birth would make me less feverish lol. Didn't happen.
Then, on maternity leave before baby arrived, I watched hours of a Baby Story every day- I liked the story aspect of it all, especially one where she gave birth to triplets after 8 years of infertility. -
I'm watching the pregnancy movie marathon on Lifetime right now and crying my eyes out!

@grizz: Oh my.... I just YouTubed this and I don't think I actually found the ad you were talking about but I saw a "you're doing ok mom" Johnsons advert and I got a little tearful at that, then I watched a Carters advert (I don't even know what Carters is!) and the strap line was "The day I became yours, you became mine" and I'm sobbing now..... WHY??? WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!!

I started watching One Born Every Minute when we were TTC and I haven't stopped since getting pregnant. Even when they're dramatic or worrying I still find it so interesting to watch. It's been like this since I was a teenager though, I've found pregnancy absolutely fascinating and would pretty much watch anything involving it.

I just watched some water births and some natural births on youtube. Did you know people posted birth vids there?! I was shocked. First time seeing a baby come out of a vagine!

I watched them while pregnant but I can't watch them now so much. I couldn't watch anyone/anything about pregnancy/birth for like 3 months.
I think I cry more now, having been through the experience and knowing how intensely emotional it is.
