A friend just posted a picture of her and her new baby in the hospital. She looks amazing! She put on a full face of makeup. I looked a hot mess and wasn't wearing anything the whole time.

Nope, wish I had! Also wish I had brushed my hair, or at least had it more neatly pulled back (if I have another LO I'm definitely bringing a headband!). I definitely looked like a hot mess in the immediately after pictures!

I didnt until I was able to get up and shower. Even then it was the bare minimum just so I didnt look like complete death. The pictuures of me I am so swollen

I was really, really sick after having DS but when I was finally allowed visitors, I did put on makeup and attempt to look somewhat normal.

Put some powder and mascara on the next day. It helped feel a little more normal.

My water broke at 7:20pm on a Friday night, just as I finished getting ready for our last pre-baby date night. I'd just done my hair and makeup, so even though DD was born the next morning, it looked better than I look most of the time. Our hospital has a photographer come around for newborn photos the next day, so I just showered, pulled my hair into a ponytail with a headband and put on concealer and rose salve.

I am always shocked at those pictures! I wasn't allowed out of bed for 24 hours (I'm realizing now that DH's family saw me with a bag of my pee hanging off the bed) and even when I was able to get up I was wearing DH's t-shirt, scrub pants and slippers. No makeup. I was a hot, sweaty mess.

No. I was totally planning on it as I am admittedly vain, but I was way too tired/emotional/busy with everything else to even think about putting on my face!

I put on my usual quick daily makeup and brushed my hair but nothing fancy. I was feeling good so it was no big deal, but I probably wouldn't have made the effort had things been rough or if I had a complicated delivery or recovery.

I picture myself applying makeup unless heaven forbid I am in really bad shape afterwards. I don't even hang around the house with DH without makeup on, so I see myself prioritizing this lol!

Gosh no. I was having a blood transfusion until 2 am the night before I was released, wasn't allowed out of my bed without a nurse until the morning of discharge, couldn't have stood without passing out even if I were allowed out of bed, and didn't shower until 30 minutes before we left. No, make-up was not a priority.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
I did, after taking my first shower. I wear very little make up anyway, but I put on some shadow, mascara, and a bit of blush.

I looked good but no, I didn't have "make-up" on.
I curled my lashes and blow dried my hair....and I put some tinted lip balm on and my BB Cream (like a tinted moisturizer). So, I did things to improve my looks, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the time on mascara or lipstick..nooooo

I had makeup on still because I went in to labor while we were at dinner. I ended up having to wear it overnight and sleep in it, but it still looked decent.

I literally walked in to my 38 week checkup straight from work (it was on a Friday) and was sent down to L&D immediately after my appointment. By the time I had LO Saturday evening, I was wearing whatever makeup was left over from what I wore to work on Friday!

I brought my makeup back into the bathroom with me when I took my first postpartum shower. I looked at the makeup, laughed, and threw it back in my bag. I wanted to feel clean and refreshed, and not with my greasy makeup on. (Maybe I need new makeup)

I went to the hosptial in makeup but after 17 hours of labor I looked a hot mess. I never put it on, I never did my hair, I showered and went straight to the NICU to be with my daughter everyday.

Goodness, no! I looked like a crazy person and was bleeding everyhwhere and didn't even care.

No, good god, no. I don't ever wear make up, so I wouldn't start for delivery and post partum!

I put some on Saturday because we were having visitors and I didn't want to look like a mess in photos!

I didn't during delivery or that evening. The next day I put on a little mascara and blush even though I rarely wear makeup. But I looked pale and felt less sickly with a little on. We're the momma/baby model up on the hospital maternity page and I think I might have had on a bit of blush but I cant tell by looking at the picture.

i had packed it in my bag but from what I remember I didn't put any on! I felt like I looked better then I expected to be after giving birth that I just didn't worry about it.
pomelo / 5258 posts
I brought it to the hospital but who was I kidding. I've worn mascara exactly once pp, on my anniversary. I didn't even get a shower until I went home.

I had makeup on during both deliveries (minimal, just powder and a little liquid eyeliner) and obviously, at the end, I didn't have much left and didn't look great. But by the next morning after I showered I put on makeup right away and felt so much better about seeing people and taking pictures! Everyone told me not to bring it, but I'm so glad I did! The second night I sent Wagon Sr. home to pick up some more

I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, and I didn't wear it after giving birth either. I think I looked pretty good without it.
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Well considering I don't wear any make up 99% of the time anyway, that would be a big no.
@yin: Same here - I look better without make up and looked pretty good sans make up after LO was born.

I put some on the next day after my first shower. I looked like a hot mess for those very first pictures (after snapping the first shot of my son & I, my husband said seriously "I promise never to show that to anyone.")
I joked that, next time, I'm getting the epidural so I don't look so jacked up at the end!
pomegranate / 3872 posts
I did my makeup every morning I was there! I even touched up before I went in for my c-section lol. I'm definitely a makeup girl. It's just part of my routine.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
I took some with me, but never had the opportunity to even think about putting in on since I had guests all day every day that I was there. Looking back I should have at least combed my hair more, lol!
