When I asked Mrs. Bee's dad for her hand in marriage, I got back not an answer but a number of questions.

I was surprised when as part of The Conversation, my future in-laws asked me about my parents' marital status. I didn't realize that if your parents are divorced, it's seen as not-a-good-thing in Korean culture.

Luckily for all concerned, my parents are still happily married, 42 years after tying the knot! So I was able to give the good news to my future in laws. I was surprised at the whole exchange though, because I didn't even realize that parental divorce was something on people's radar.

Did your in-laws ask you if your parents were divorced? How did you answer their question?
