DS hasn't and probably won't. If we schedule an elective 3d/4d one, we'll probably take him though. Not sure if he'll really understand that the baby he sees on screen is the "baby in mommy's belly."

no, i don't plan on it. LO is 2 years old and it would all go over his head, also it would stress me out to watch him and make sure he doesn't infect everything with his perpetual runny nose.

M came to one early one because I wanted DH to be able to go and we didn't have anyone to watch her. She did ok, but it was a little difficult to entertain her while we were waiting and DH had to spend some time distracting her with snacks, etc. It wasn't ideal.
She was probably a little under 2 at the time and I'm sure she didn't really get it. I was also concerned that if something was wrong with the baby it would be very difficult to have her there.

Yep, all of them. She came to my fertility testing and my miscarriage ultrasound too I have no childcare so no choice. She chills in the stroller with snacks and my iPad.

She came to my aging ultrasound because dh was there and it was after daycare.closed. she wasn't a fan.

She's been to both of mine so far--but that's mainly because my husband goes too, and we have no one else who can watch her!
She totally doesn't know what's going on, although she does stare at the screen (probably thinking it's a TV).

Ya, LO 1 went to my elective scan and the second half of my anatomy scan.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
All of them I SAH so I didn't have a sitter. She loved it and always asked to hear " di di " (what she called the baby).

She came to the position check I had last week. DH came too and he had already picked her up from daycare. She's 16 months so she didn't understand or even pay attention.

Yes. She came to a scan later on and I think to an appointment that my husband needed to be at. She was 2.5

It he 1st one year all the ones after that, no. He was 7 months old when we found out we were pregnant, and he wanted nothing to do with sitting there. We learned our lesson the first time haha

She came to our anatomy scan, she could careless she was more interested in the tongue compressor the doc gave her

LO#1 went to almost all the U/S's for LO#2. Not because she would get what is going on, but because she came to all my OB/GYN appts.
nectarine / 2994 posts
Yes she has been to both of mine so far and will come to the 20 week one as well. She's 2.5 so not really interested in looking at the screen, she just sat and played on dh's phone at the 2 ultrasounds she has been to.

No, I usually drop DD off at grandma's and then DH and I go together.

He was in the room with my husband and I for NT and Anatomy scans. It was a disaster! Hahaa

I don't have a LO to worry about, but I have noticed at my practice they state over & over again that children are not permitted to come to u/s's, only 1 adult guest. If we have a 2nd, I guess I will have to rely on family to help watch LO1.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
Yes, DH wanted to come to the anatomy scan so LO1 came too. She was too young to understand what was going on but also young enough to be easily distracted and kept entertained in Daddy's arms so DH didn't have to miss the ultrasound.

Yup. Im a sahm so no one else to watch the kids but me. Drake came to all the ones for Juliet and Juliet now comes for all the ones for this one. I try to schedule my appointments for when Drake is at school but he had also come to a few this time as well when scheduling couldn't be helped

Nope, they'll only be 20 months apart, so he doesn't understand. Plus, most of my ultrasounds are at MFM and they don't allow children.
pineapple / 12566 posts
A few times but mostly because I didn't have any childcare options or my appointment was after daycare was closed for the day. My OB did an ultrasound at every appointment though, and would let LO1 "help".

No, she's too young to understand and it would be more hectic than anything because she is BUSY ! I have one this morning and had to get a sitter because I'm off on spring break
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Nope, she was actually sick at the time of my gender scan but taking a 1.5 year old to that plus a dr appt and expecting her to behave for an hour? No way
grapefruit / 4110 posts
Yup. He was there for conception so why not. He will be 4 when the baby is born so he's a bit older and can understand some of what is going on. He went to two at the re and the first major scan. We didn't take him to the anatomy scan. He mostly just watched his tablet or our phones. We are currently discussing if he wants to attend the birth.

i'll have to bring LO to the first as i have no other childcare options.
pomelo / 5791 posts
My big anatomy scan is tomorrow and I keep going back and forth about it. DS is only 2 though, so I'm guessing it's easier to keep him home with grandma and make things less hectic.
grapefruit / 4712 posts
Yep. N came to all of the ultrasounds for E. I am a WAHM so where I go he goes. He didn't really get it but he was easy to distract.

DD came to the dating scan and she'll be going to the anatomy scan tomorrow. She's 3.5 and very excited about the baby, so she "gets it" more at this age and wants to be involved. If she were younger, I probably would rethink bringing her just so DH and I could focus on the u/s.
nectarine / 2631 posts
Yup he came to all my appointments! he had no idea what was going on- but I didn't want to have to figure out childcare for him! A book and some snacks and he was fine!
