My OB was my GYN, and I saw her at my first visit as an OB patient, then about 50-60% of the times after that, until around 36 weeks when I saw the OB at every visit.

I saw my OB at every single visit. I would be super annoyed if I were you. Have you said anything to them about each new practitioner having a different plan? That's very overwhelming and confusing!

I don't know if this would work for you, but my insurance company wouldn't cover my yearly exam with a physician's assistant, only with the doctors. Maybe you could fib and use that excuse to see an OB?

Do they still have hand-written files or are the on the computer? A few of my friends are in the medical field and are in the process of switching to electronic files and maybe there are hiccups with that?

Since you said that they are friendly, I would either call or talk to them during your next appointment.

I saw nurses for my first 2 appointments and my OB around 8-9 weeks.

this would make me crazy! moreso the lack of having it together than the nurses vs OB but they shouldn't be giving you different plans!
at my OB you saw a nurse early on but then always the OB. I hope things get better as you definitely need TLC when high-risk, hugs! should you be seeing an MFM instead? is that an option? I did that last pregnancy for 1st tri and I really liked the attention they gave vs the factory at the OB.

My practice was 4 OB's and I would rotate seeing them. I think for one appointment I had the option of seeing the NP but I requested seeing the doctor because I wanted to feel comfortable with all 4 of them. I loved my practice and always felt it good hands and they always seemed up to date- they all had ipad's that had all of the patient info. I think if you aren't feeling comfortable you should go somewhere else. Did your RE suggest this practice? If not, maybe give them a call. When you are pregnant and high risk you don't want to feel like you aren't being taken care of!

I saw my OB about 90% of the time. The remaining 10% he was either delivering a baby {and I didn't want to wait} or he was on vacation. I would be equally frustrated in your situation, high-risk or not, with the lack of professionalism. Could you perhaps speak to the Office Coordinator?

Also, unfortunately there's no guarantee that your doctor or someone from the same practice will deliver your baby. I was adament that my OB had to deliver my LO, and it ended up being the laborist on call at the hospital because my labor progressed so rapidly.

I saw a nurse practitioner early in my pregnancies but then at around 8 weeks saw my OB every time (for me it was once or twice a week throughout the whole pregnancy). They should be able to guarantee one of their doctors. Maybe not your main OB but at least one in the practice. It's sounds a little odd to me.

From what you described, it sounds to me like you should switch. It's only going to get more annoying to deal with You do not need additional drama from your OB office while trying to have a baby!

I don't. I usually see my OB's PA everytime. I've seen my OB once. But I'm very low risk and my appointments are seriously like "Everything good? Any questions? Okay see you in a month." Uneventful. So I don't mind. I really like the PA.

Last time I was scheduled to see my OB and he had to leave for a delivery and I saw his nurse practitioner. That sucked kind of because I was looking forward to checking in with him.

@spaniellove: I think you should switch as well. That doesn't seen normal. Does your Mfm do deliveries too?

I seemed to alternate between seeing the OB and the Physician's Assistant. I never saw an NP.

That would make me change practices. I see my OB at every visit, unless he has to go deliver then they give me a choice to wait for him to come back or see one of the nurses.

I don't think my OB's office uses NPs. My very first visit (6 weeks) was with a nurse and was just informational to get my history and instruct me on the Do's and Don'ts and draw a bunch of blood. Since then every appt has been with my doc and she definitely always knows me (but to be fair, she was also my gyn for the last 6 or so years and so she already knew me from that).

I saw my OB from the very beginning. When we were TTC, I even saw her after 6 months of trying without luck! My OB is in a practice with 4 other ladies, but I always see her unless she's out. Even when she's out, she lets me know so that I can schedule out/before my next appt so that I can see her or let me pick another OB in her practice for that visit.
