Only when he was a newborn because he had a ton of hair (still does). I don't most people pay attention to clothing. I've seen this happen a ton! Didn't bother me~

M has long eyelashes, so if he's not wearing something blatantly "boy," I'll get asked if he's a boy or girl.

Yep, happens all the time even if I have something pink or girly on her. She's 4 months old. Someone at the grocery store last week said, oh how old is he? He's so cute! I said she's 4 months old and thank you. They then replied, oh, a girl? Really? Yes. My child is a girl. Hence the hot pink bib.

haha everyone thinks she's a boy. I usually correct them, but DH just plays along and talks about his "son" lol. Once her hair grows a little longer, i think it will stop. It doesn't bother me, but I am excited for her to look a little more like a girl. I also always dress her in gender neutral clothes.

I think all babies, especially under 4 months of age, look like little old men, lol.

Frequently as newborns! It made me annoyed sometimes but it usually made me laugh.

Ha, I made that mistake with a long haired (hair in a bun) boy at soccer the other day. "How old is your daughter?"

All the time. Like 90% of the time somone mentions a gender people say boy. LO is 18 no but doesn't like hair accessories.

Yesterday we visited a neighbor to pick up some of her daughter's hand me downs. LO played with the eight year old girl for an hour or so. As we were leaving the girl asked why my boy wanted girl clothes. Ha!

I don't think she's been mistaken for a boy. It would kind of annoy me I guess because I think she is very obviously a girl, but also because if I have any doubt I always say 'what a cute baby!' Or something if I'm not sure. Not that difficult to avoid possibly offending someone!

Happens a lot, since C still has hardly any hair at 13 months. It doesn't bother me at all, since usually either way, it's a person telling me my baby is cute, which is something I totally agree with It does amuse me sometimes when she is dressed totally girly though- the other day, bright pink shirt on and someone asked if it was a boy or girl.

If someone just says, Oh, he's so cute! I say thank you and move on. If the conversation continues, or they say, How old is he? I just say, She's 13 months. Sometimes they catch on, sometimes they don't, but I really don't care much.

It happens constantly to us. Alice's car seat is green and she's bald and bigger than her twin brother. So strangers always think she's a boy. It doesn't really bother me!

It happens so much I've considered posting this same question. People always ask me about my daughter and and refer to him as a "she". Doesn't matter what color I dress him in, although I do try to avoid blue when I can. Maybe it's because his car seat is bright orange and he has a ton of hair?

@night cheese: Before we found out the sex I bought the same outfit your LO is wearing in your avatar! I also dislike pink.

Happens all the time--most recently at 21 months, when to me he OBVIOUSLY looks like a boy at this point. Oh well!

It happens all the time because I don't dress LO in pink that often and she has short hair. My only issue with it is if I have to respond and say she or her and they called her a boy. I don't actually want them to know they were wrong, but I'm not going to call my child the wrong thing.

No babies for me yet, but I usually pull the "Your baby is so cute! How old is your baby?" I sound repetitive, but I don't like assuming. In general, I wish we had commonly used gender neutral pronouns - especially as gender is becoming more and more fluid.

Not really. Children have unidentifiable features. I don't care at all, though. E wears dresses and pigtails now.

My DD would be in pink and people would still call her a boy because her carrier was orange (used with older DS), I think? Didn't bother me too much though.

Chloe was mistaken for a boy twice. I wasn't offended, but I did think "how stupid are you?"

The first time we were at Starbucks. She was in a purple and gold plaid shirt & I had a purple now in her hair. A barista asked us how old our son is. Face palm.

The second time we were walking around our neighborhood. She was dressed head to toe in pink & I had a leopard print blanket on her lap. Someone asked me "what's your sons name? Why is he dressed in all pink?!"

People are not all that observant. Also, many people are idiots. So.

Yep all the time! She's little and no hair (and I rarely put bows on her in everyday life). And her carseat is teal (and my sling for her is blue). Doesn't bother me.
