Yes! Similar to what @PSW27, we don't have a LO so we don't go through milk that fast -- the best part of organic milk is that it lasts like 3 weeks longer.

I can't personally taste any kind of difference, but I never thought milk had much of a taste anyways.

I think super pastuerized milk tastes odd, like a cooked taste, but not spoiled.

I buy local, less pastuerized milk because I love the taste so much more. I know I should be buying organic too, especially since we drink so much.....

DH and I don't drink much milk, but we always have a half gallon of organic whole milke in our fridge (DS drinks almond) as a just in case for baking, DS, etc.

I would try a different brand. I personally don't love Horizon - I think it tastes weird.

@FarmWifeGina: Agree. In fact, my favorite brand of milk just released a grass fed version. I am going to switch to that as soon as we run out of milk.

I've been using it this week since M just switched over to milk. I figured it's easier to just buy one container for all of us. But I only use milk in cereal and coffee.

I buy regular but hormone free skim milk which is really only for cereal, and organic whole milk for LO. She seems to like it just fine although we just switched.

Definitely shouldn't taste spoiled, but as folks above have said, the different pasteurization process does give it a different flavor. Sort of a sweet flavor, because the high heat used caramelizes just a little of the sugar in it.

@septca: What brand? I was drinking a grass fed they had at whole foods, but I was getting whole, and it wasn't homogenized. So the fat wound up in chunks that I had to strain out, or heat it to melt them, neither of which was much fun.

I'd prefer raw milk, but it's illegal to sell it here. At some point I'm going to try to convince DH to do the thing where you buy a share in a cow in exchange for raw milk, but right now I still let milk go bad sometimes since I'm the only one drinking it, so not worth investing in.

I used to buy Horizons organic which is ultra pasteurized and didn't taste a difference since I always drank ultra pasteurized. A few months back I started buying organic frm local farm that's pasteurized at low heat for min time and not homogenized. Two weeks ago I had to buy horizons since I forgot to go to farmers market and the ultra pasteurized now tastes weird to me! Maybe the taste from process?

I only buy organic milk. I found that it tastes better than regular milk. I sent DH to the store and he accidentally bought regular milk. I could tell the difference right away.

Maybe you got a bad carton? It shouldn't taste spoiled.
