Do you ever forget you are a parent? Or do you not feel like a parent.
Very often when I say "My son" I think "Oh my goodness, my son? That must mean I'm a mom. I don't feel like a mom."
It catches me by surprise more often than not.
(My LO is 3 months old.)

Hahaha sometimes, yes. The other day DH and I were like, lets go catch a movie!... and forgot that it's just not that simple anymore. Hahaha.

@MungBean: oh my gosh right?! I always feel sooo bad asking my mom to babysit because she always has a lot going on esp with her health. And otherwise we have to pay $$ for a babysitter and that makes a simple date SO expensive! 5 hour date is $50 just for the sitter?! crazy.

Yes, especially at work when I'm around my coworkers who don't have kids.

I feel weird talking to younger people I work with about my kids. It's kind of distancing to bring up your kids when someone is in their 20s, I think.

Not anymore. She's 13 months old, and always on my mind. I'm a SAHM so I'm with her 24/7!

I'm a SAHM, too but my LO is only 3.5 months so it's still new. I never forget I have a son but I do forget that that means I am a mom.

I dont forget it, but its still strange hearing people refer to me as a mom. LO is 4.5 months old

I still do a double take when my DH is talking to my son and refers to mumma - I'm like who??? DS is 4 mos!

yes! i compare it to when i first got married and couldn't believe i was someones wife lol sometimes i'm like holy crap...this little dude is my son...so that means i'm his mom! haha

@pastemoo: Yes! I often say to my husband that I can't believe we have a kid. It's strange saying 'my son'.
@Coco Bee: I sometimes envy those that have their kids at a younger age because they won't be so dang old when their kids are in college lol. I will be in my 50s when that happens, and that just scares me when I think about it!

@calsmom: that was part of the reasoning for starting young. I love that my mom is a grandma before she'd fifty. I want that too.

I forget sometimes when I'm off doing my own thing, or even when I hand the baby off to someone else for a little bit. Then they give him back to me and I'm like "Oh, I have a baby!" I guess I'm still adjusting!
