I'm debating getting one. I'm almost 15 weeks, and I'm starting to feel movement, but I still think I'd like one. Did you have one? What brand? Did it work well? Do you think it was worth your money to buy it?

I do.. I had 2 previous MCs. I wasn't going to get one at first, because I thought it would increase my anxiety. But I decided to do it around 12 weeks, and it's been a good experience having it. By waiting until then, I've always been able to find the hb easily. I used it daily from 12ish weeks until about 19 weeks, when I felt regular movement. I hardly use it at all now! I have the Sonoline B. For me, it eased my anxiety so I would recommend it

I have this one:

I loved it and used it almost every night. It made me feel so much better!

I borrowed a friends and used it once. It was hard to find the HB so it freaked me out too much.

I decided not to get one. Although my situation is a little different as I am in and out of the doctors office every two weeks for labs and ever 4-6 weeks for regular U/S and or Dopplers. I have pretty regular reassurance that everything is okay. I knew that if I couldn't find the heartbeat I'd freak out. Also I had read stories of women having problems & using it to "reassure" themselves all was well & then find out later that all was not well and they should have listened to their bodies instead. That was enough evidence for me not get one.

We decided against it for the reasons above. I'm a natural worrier, and so far, I've been really calm during my pregnancy ... I felt like the doppler would be fun, but I'd FREAK if I couldn't find the hb.

I have the same one as @TurtleDoves:
It definitely gave me peace of mind. Having had a previous miscarriage, I was really paranoid. I used it a lot between weeks 10 and 20 before I could feel movement everyday.
I never really had any problems finding the heartbeat, though. If I did, I'm sure it would have freaked me out.

i had the sonoline b and loved it. i also used it from 12-19ish weeks on a daily basis. if you do get one i recommend youtubing for tips on how to find the heart beat. it can be tricky.

I used one on the same day every week (whenever I started a new week). I got the sonoline b on ebay for about $55. So worth it!

I have a sonoline b and love it. I waited until I was about 10 or 11 weeks before getting it and found the heartbeat right away. It helped me with the anxiety in the beginning, even with no history of miscarriages.

I have not gotten one and will probably not. I'm almost 11 weeks and although now that I"m starting to feel better it seems like it would be really nice/comforting to be able to check the heartbeat daily.... I'm not sure it is good for my mental health. I would worry that I'd use it wrong and not be able to find the heartbeat and freak out. Also the plan to check it every day would probably lead to anxiety every day right before the checkup. Lastly I'm sort of cheap and I'm trying to not spend money on things I don't *need* because I know there are going to be enough things I DO need coming right around the bend.

It was SUCH a relief. I watched a video on how to find the heartbeat easier and I think that really helped. I never have issues finding the HB and it helps ease my mind! Very worth the $50.

I didn't get one because I'd be nervous if it took too long to find the heart beat or I was unable to, and I would want to use it almost every day but I don't know if it's a good practice.
I'd see what your Dr says first about buying one for home use, what brand they'd recommend, and how often to use it. LO seems to hate the ultrasounds and doppler when we go to our monthly appointments and instantly starts kicking and moving, so I can't imagine that doing it every day would be comfortable for her. I'm not saying those that used one were wrong, or that it is even bad for baby, but my concerns for using it outweighed the benefits I'd find in having one.

I have the same one already mentioned above from when I was pregnant with DD. I used it maybe a handful of times but eventually got frustrated trying to find the HB each time. Then I was able to feel baby's kicks so I knew she was ok. I will probably use again for baby #2.

I had one and it gave me major peace of mind. It was a godsend. I found myself using it less once I could consistently feel the baby moving but I still loved having it!
