If I were you, I'd go to the hospital and hunt that nurse down!
Then get her info and write your letter!

Yes towards their head LC! I tell everyone I know delivering at that hospital about my experience. Besides her I loved my hospital.

Nope, I loved the hospital. It was also the hospital dh and I were born so it's a special place for me, my whole family was born there

I was irritated with the OB - she was kinda rude while I was in labor and made me a lot more panicky while I had been fairly calm before she came in (I had a diff doctor for the majority of laboring). She was very nice after I delivered but she didn't really describe what kind of tear I had even though I asked and I ended up re-tearing and her solution to that was horrible - lets just cut a piece off - and when I'd said I'd rather not, she said oh well you can just let it heal on it's own......how is healing on it's own an afterthought.

I didn't give her a super favorable review when they sent out opinion sheets, nothing horrible but I did mention some of the issues. Other people must have had issues with her though because she ended up leaving the practice a few months later.

Other than that I liked everyone else and they must have liked us, we're still the mommy/baby model for the hospital maternity webpage.

My experience was mostly good but 2 things stood out to me.
1. An OB who was on the floor while I was in labor/induction was super pushy and kept wanting to do internal checks then after about 5 hours on the NZ equivalent of pitocin she told me there was zero change which I went hysterical because 5 hours of non-stop contractions apparently wasn't doing anything and I felt like a failure. luckily my midwife re-checked me and reassured i had made progress! my mum went and yelled at the OB
2. When I was on a ward after delivery the nurses were super slack and because partners wern't allowed to stay I was on my own trying to figure out how a nappy worked.

I had a great experience and loved the hospital and nurses...If anything, one of the LC's really bugged me. She was like a breastfeeding Nazi, and I get that she was really, really into her job as a LC, but she definitely made some rude comments and was very condescending.

Not during delivery, but post partum. The things that happened had long term impacts too.

Nope, no complaints at all. My doctor was on call, so I was thrilled she delivered me. The nurses were all awesome!!!

I have a bit of resentment towards the anesthesiologist. He never took my concerns seriously and I was right...something was wrong.

Mine was wonderful. My delivery experience was not one that people want to go through, but they made it as great as possible. I can't wait to go back and deliver for real this time!

Not for the actual delivery but the nurse in the recovery room after the c-section didn't understand why I wanted to try breastfeed straight away then gave me a syringe full of formula and said I wouldn't have any colustrum and to drop the milk on my nipple to tempt her to feed. I now know this was bullsh*t and I shouldn't have listened at all. Pretty pissed about that.

I work atthe hospital that i delivered at and my postpartum nurse was terrible. She did not follow a lot of policies ~never assessed my bleeding in a 12 hour shift, signed of on a narcotic count that was never done,etc. I am still figuring out the best course of action here.

The rest ofthe staff was great.

I have a ton of resentment towards the hospital where #2 was born! First: the anesthesiologist hit a nerve and it took 5 tries to get the spinal block in... Second: the doctor who did my c-section didn't lift up my baby to show her to me. Third: the nurses (as nice as they were) kept forgetting about me and I didn't get to get up for quite a while and I didn't get a shower for almost 2 days after. Oh yea and on top of it all the ped there was a total jerk face.

Given I spent my second night there without power and running water and had to walk down 13 stories in the dark to be evacuated, I'm a little bitter that I didn't get to enjoy recovery time with DD but it was beyond the control of any of us or the staff. They did the best they could in an emergency situation so I can't be too angry with them.
Note - I was at NYU hospital during hurricane sandy but thankfully DD and I were healthy enough that we were literally the second to last family evacuated. But we watched it all happen throughout the night.

A friend of a friend of mine was so upset following her birth experience, she wrote to the hospital to complain. Long story short (she wasn't letting the complaint drop), she was invited into the hospital to meet with the Chief Executive, which led to her being invited into the ward to give a presentation to all the nurses and labour ward staff about her experience!

I didn't like one nurse that I had one night. She was a nutcase, and drove me crazy cause she kept having to fidget with me during my contractions, when I was trying to concentrate. I have an arsenal of things I couldn't stand about her and the crazy things that spewed out of her mouth.

I couldn't stand the midwife that attended me, either. She wasn't my regular midwife, but one with hospital privileges. She really talks down her nose at everyone, including me. The crazy part, though, is that I'm forever stuck with her for my prenatal care, if I have more babies, cause she has actually been through (as a mother) the same things I have been, so even though she talks down her nose at people, she's been there. It's a weird relationship we're embarking on. I hate her, but respect her.

The only weird thing was our l&d nurse went on a semi rant about how she left her church bc the pastor came out as gay. I normally would say something but I kept my mouth shut...other than that she was a very good nurse.

The one LC was a whack job, but I think everyone I know has bad a bad experience with a hospital LC.

I was lucky. My experience was great! There's a newer fancier hospital just built in town and most people seem to want to deliver there. We choose the older hospital though for its baby friendly policies and I'm glad we did! We had no complaints at all.

We didn't love the baby nurse we were assigned post partum for the two days we were there but it wasn't a bad experience. Overall, we were happy with everything.

I had a wonderful experience at my hospital. There is another hospital in town that is kind of known as the baby hospital but I tell everyone they should go where I went because it was so great.

But oddly enough my delivery nurse and both of my post partum nurses were ALL pregnant! So that may have given them more empathy for me. I don't know if that was part of it or not but they were all wonderful.
