I have some friends that smoke socially but no one that does it on the regular. Cigs are about $14/pack here in New York and theres a billion regulations about where you can and cannot smoke.

My in laws are heavy smokers, in their homes also. I refuse to bring the kids over there. I don't know anyone else who smokes.

I smoked from age 16 to about age 23/24. I know a few people that still smoke.

My BIL smokes regularly. Yuck.

I'm so glad it's not something I ever got into.

I only know of one who smokes, and it's DH's uncle. His dad used to smoke but quit a long time ago. When I went to China 5 years ago everyone smoked, and I felt like I was surrounded everywhere I went. Glad it's not like that in the US.

@hotchildinthecity: DH is up there Mon-Thurs for work and said that he sees people smoking there 100x more then he does down here.

I don't anymore. I had a couple good friends that did when drinking but they stopped years ago. And my cousin just stopped a year ago.

A pretty high number of my coworkers smoke. It surprises me because they're all in their 20s and early 30s (aka grew up knowing how bad it is). I've never smoked a cigarette. Smoke really bothers me!

@Smurfette: hmmmm, maybe i dont pay a lot of attention? I know several of my friends quit because it was so expensive and you had to walk XX feet from your work to smoke, couldnt smoke in bars, etc. and you cant smoke in parks here which includes a lot of spaces and events, as well as beaches.

@hotchildinthecity: Maybe it seems like a lot to him cause we rarely see anyone here anymore. Even the crowd I would see outside at work, seems smaller.

One of DHs aunts is a smoker. Everyone else I know has quit in the last 5 years or so.

I honestly can't think of anyone in our regular circle. Unfortunately, our next door neighbor does, and it makes me angry every time I smell it/see it.

My in laws, sister and BIL within our family. I know quite a few people from work that do as well. It was never mine of DH's thing. Although DH dipped for a long time (but quit 6 years ago).

I see the vapor places on every corner it seems. I'm not convinced that's good for people either.

My whole family smokes. I'm the only one who doesn't. Nobody in DH's family does

@Smurfette: I think they are visible because they have to leave the building to do it. Smokers are always gathered outside my office building. I don't see them anywhere else.

I think one of my DH's friends smokes, but he may have quit a few years ago when his son was born. My BIL chews tobacco, which I think may be worse.

I started at 16 and quit at 20. So glad I did.

My ILs are chain smokers. I hate taking LO over there, or even letting FIL or SIL hold him at our house. He ends up smelling like smoke for the 5 minutes he's in their arms. My house smells like smoke when they leave. It makes me cringe. Ugh.

My sister and BIL do but they don't smell like it. I don't know about BIL but my sister only smokes one a day or so.

I don't, but some of my family members do. Honestly, growing up around my dad smoking constantly was so gross. I hated the smell and still hate it.

@Smurfette: That's funny because I was in NYC for many years and am now in the suburbs of (Stamford, CT) and I rarely see people smoke in the city. In fact, it's so rare that when I'm walking behind someone smoking it like, enrages me, lol! I notice it SO much because it's so rare. However, there are very, very few places you can smoke in NYC anymore, so perhaps he is seeing congregations of people outside bars, etc. I mean, you're not allowed to smoke within a certain number of feet from building entrances or in parks. It's pretty extreme! And as @hotchildinthecity: mentioned, it's just so expensive.

I smoked socially in college a little bit. I haven't in years though and wouldn't now.

The only person that I can think of is DH's cousin!

A few people in DH's family smoke...I think just his grandma, uncle and his mom smokes on and off for periods of time. No one else does.

I smoked for 5 years and I have been smoke free for 5 years. I blame New York and the music scene. I still know people who smoke but not a ton. Now I find the smell so gross.
