Our apartment is hosting a holiday party on the 20th and I'm sad I won't be able to attend!
Gonna have my mom and DH go, eat a ton and bring food up for me

I used to dread work events when I was younger, but now I relish the "adult" time. Just enjoyed a going away happy hour this evening, even though I was only able to stay for 45 min before rushing to daycare pickup !

They're ok. I love the people I work with but feel generally socially awkward and like I don't fit in (no matter where I am). So I tend to just survive these events. We're having two office parties this year - one this Thursday after work ar the office for the whole office (2 companies) and a dinner out next Friday with just our employees. DH isn't coming to the Thursday event so I'm kind of dreading it, especially because if I stay past 8 or so I know I'll be a total mess the next day from exhaustion.

I used to love them when I had a great group of coworkers! It was like getting paid to hang out with my friends. But then I changed jobs and it was less fun. All my coworkers were old!

And now I'm (temporarily) a SAHM so a work holiday party would be pretty boring. I guess I could crack open a beer while we play

I usually LOVE my DH's company xmas party, but this year I was pregnant and couldn't drink...and apparently they are pretty boring... haha! Usually my SIL (her husband works there too) get wastey face and have a great time dancing! Couldn't do that this year! We have *my* work parties during work, so it's great to get paid to eat food!

@Bookworm: True, I also usually gorge on awesome food when anxious but with the GD, that tactic is out the window too. So I'll just be tired, starving, sober, and socially awkward this year

Work parties are few and far between for us. Today however, we're having a "mini-party", meaning our boss is bringing us all lunch and most people brought some sort of dessert or salad. So I don't think i'll get much work done this afternoon haha!

My work doesn't have a party. Out department has a potluck lunch on Friday, but usually people get their plates and go eat at their desks. Which is ok with me, I don't work a lot of people that I have anything in common with. DH's party is on Friday night. I am nervous about it. I will only know about 6 or 7 people there. Without any cocktails in me, I know that I am going to be shy. I just feel awkward trying to make conversation with people that I don't know. And given, everyone else will be drinking doesn't help.

DH has some works events and I know he'd rather be home with us, but he gets paid for them so he doesn't mind going.

I said 'they're OK.' I am not crazy about them, as they seemed too forced to me, but depending on the coworkers they can be fun.

We don't have that kind of environment at my work, so I'm indifferent. If they're during the day, great, I get paid for munching and socializing for a little bit. In the evening, it depends on where it's at and how good the food is.

DH just started a new job and I was hoping they would have a work Christmas party so I could meet everyone, but they are having it during the work day, boo! So, yes, I enjoy them!
