YES! I love my kitchenaid!\
@MrsBrewer: You use the paddle attachment! You just thrown the chicken in and it will shred it beautifully.

@zippylef: I've heard the paddle attachment works well too. I haven't tried it - Just the bread hook!

@Ash: @zippylef: How have I never done this before?! I'm going to do this for sure when I need to shred chicken next! Thanks for passing on the knowledge!

KitchenAid is having a sale on refurbs right now. 30% off the listed price with coupon PGA30:
I bought one a few weeks ago when Kohls was having a great sale. I've baked with it twice now and it makes things so easy!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: You used a mixer for tomato soup? I'm confused - was it to take out lumps or to mix up whole tomatoes? If it was, you should try an immersion blender. Most beloved appliance I've got.
@Ash: That is freakin' BRILLIANT!! I would never have thought to shred chicken like that!
I have a beautiful bluey-purple Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It was the number 1 most important thing to get off my wedding registry. It is indispensable for Christmas baking alone.

I wish
I bake a ton, and it would so come in handy. I do have a hand mixer, but it's just not the same as having something with a good dough hook...

I got one as a wedding gift from my BFF. It's Martha Stewart blue and I love it! I don't use it as often now that I have DS but I will definitely use it for the holidays.

@Dagret - He CUT your shower curtain? wth?
I also have a hand mixer that I got from Target for cheap. Under $20 and it comes with a case to hold it's attachments. I highly recommend it if you want a replacement or someone wants a space-saver!

Yes, a kitchenaid stand mixer. I use it all the time. They last forever, too, so I think they've worth the investment even for fairly casual use.
