I am a proud owner of an egg and apple slicer. My husband thinks they are dumb but he uses them all the time!

I have an apple corer/slicer. It's awesome, and makes prepping apples for pies (or just eating) a breeze.

I have an apple slicer and love it! Have an avocado one and that doesn't work very well.

We have an egg slicer that gets tons of use. I love that thing! We use it for mushrooms and strawberries too

I just got a sno cone maker for my birthday from DH!!! This summer is going to be awesome!!

@prettylizy: I never thought about using it for other stuff!

I have herb scissors. They were a gift and I made fun of them. But I've used them.

I have crab crackers (in the shape of crab legs) even though we never cook crab at home!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
My husband wanted the apple slicer and uses it all the time! I think my silliest gadget is a little strawberry huller, but I love it!

I love my apple slicer too! I also have this little hook thing for peeling oranges, because I love oranges but can never peel them myself. It fits on your finger like a ring and then you drag it along the peel and then peel it up.

I've been on a mango kick and just bought a mango splitter. It makes cutting them up soooo much easier! And I never thought of using our egg slicer for other things. Such a good idea.

I have an egg slicer and an apple corer/slicer that makes them into spirals. I also have cake decorating tips and bags. @PurplePumps: Have you ever used a drinking straw to hull a strawberry? Just slide it through the center, from the bottom. It's a cool idea.

Apple slicer/corer & a pair of kitchen scissors with a herb shredder.

I have a dumpling press and a tomato stem remover. Those are probably the silliest things ...

I have a bunch of those cute egg gadgets, like the single hard boiled egg maker for the microwave, egg slicer, and tiny egg-shaped measuring cup (it measures tsp or tbsp). I really want the potato shaped potato brush too!

@Happygal: Haha I thought onion goggles sounded like a great invention and DH thought I was ridiculous. Do they work?
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
I used to think the cookie dough scoop was so dumb. Then I used my sils and loved it. The cookies are all one size so they cook evenly and look pretty!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs. 64: yes, they do! Mine are bright pink. My eyes seem to be really sensitive, and cutting onions can also make my nose run. Dorky glasses are much better than runny eyes and nose!
nectarine / 2936 posts
@Happygal: For real! I might get some. DH might laugh but when was the last time he cut onions!?
nectarine / 2600 posts
@prettylizy: I never thought about using our egg slicer for mushrooms!
@luckypenny: That sounds...pretty awesome!!
DH "complains" that we have a lot of kitchen gadgets that are only good for one thing. Like the popcorn air-popper. But we use it a lot! We also have a coffee bean grinder, but that gets used every day as well.
I do have one of those Italian espresso things...I got it for my bridal shower and have never used it! I "had" to have it at the time, because my folks used to live in Italy and my dad got all into it, and I though it was cool.

@Happygal: I have those, too! By far the best silly kitchen gadget I own -- my eyes are super sensitive, too. @mrs. 64: I highly recommend them

A fois gras slicer. We've used it a few times for the intended purpose. My MIL gives us a few containers of it around the holidays.
@mamamagpie: LOVE the photo :-). I keep threatening to get those for DH.

I have a Joie Roundy Egg Ring. I hate when the egg whites spread out when I fry an egg so I love using this thing! I bought it for a dollar off the TJmax clearance shelf.

We got an asparagus peeler.
I think it was just kinda a funny gift. We do eat a lot of asparagus but we never bother to peel .
persimmon / 1436 posts
@lamariniere: hahaha I took it for a friend who'd never heard of them and thought I was kidding They would definitely be a funny gift for your DH, especially because I've only ever seen them in pink (how sexist)!
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@Sugar.Biscuit: We have something similar but have never used it. We just moved to a new house, and our little doo dad is in our give away pile!

@autumnlove: I was convinced as a kid that an apple slicer was a necessity!! haha but I don't have one as an adult
I think the closest thing would be my awesome owl measuring cups... but they're def a necessity

@sugarbiscuit i have all kinds of joie gadgets from tj maxx also...my favorite is the pig ice cream scoop
i am a sucker for silly kitchen gadgets...especially if they are brightly colored and/or have funny faces on them.
like the brightly colored taco stands (so you can assemble tacos) which is just one of the many little things DH thinks we could live without!

I don't know if this counts, but I have a banana hanger and I just bought DH a food scale because he likes to make sure he's eating enough protein
persimmon / 1436 posts
@Modern Daisy: we have a food scale, too, for that exact reason! I actually use it all the time now and am glad DH bought it!

@Mamamagpie: I didn't see this last night or I would have commented right away! Love this picture.

@prettylizy: I never thought to use it to cut other things! Amazing...
@DigAPony: I love that orange peeler - I hate peeling oranges without it
@T.H.O.U.: I didn't even know anyone peeled asparagus! That's bizarre
I have a batter dispenser. I HATE getting cupcake/muffin batter into the little cups with a spoon, because it gets all over the pan and makes a huge mess.
I also have a vegetable shredder, so I don't have to pay extra money for shredded carrots anymore.
I have a melon baller - I don't know why, but it's so much more fun to eat balls of cantaloupe/ watermelon than slices!
coconut / 8079 posts
@autumnlove yes! i think i got them at a kitchen store on vacation. there were 4 to a pack and you can put three or four taco shells in each one.
