If your LO has a wet diaper only, no poop, do you still wipe them? I don't always but I have been trying to get into the habit since my girls are prone to rashes. I know it only makes sense to make sure they are clean and then dry but I was getting lazy about it. Diaper changes are a challenge as it is!

This conversation just came up between DH and i. i thought you only wiped girls for pee but he is adamant that I/we wipe the little guy every time! So I do but it was not my first thought!

Most of the time I don't. However, LO has started changing her baby dolls and wipes them very meticulously. She might be trying to tell me something.

after 1.5 years old = ha ... only if he was asleep.

She's super prone to rashes so yeah, I usually do. But the LO I used to nanny, we would only wipe every other time and she never had any problem. It seems like no matter what I do, my poor LO is always a little pink down there. Maybe #2 won't be so sensitive!

Sometimes. Only if the diaper was really wet. A lot of times the diaper soaks it up so well his skin's not even wet. DS is not prone to rashes or anything though so I don't have to worry about that!

Only after overnight diapers. His skin is usually dry to the touch (we use cloth diapers) so I only use wipes for poopy diapers. He has only had a diaper rash maybe 10 days of his entire life, so I don't think it is too big of a deal.

Every time. But I think using cloth diapers makes a difference. When she's had a disposable diaper on, I noticed how well it wicked the wetness away from her skin. A lot of times, disposables have felt dry to the touch on the surface to me. So if we used 'sposies, I might be less inclined to wipe every time.
As it is, we use organic cotton cloth diapers (no microfiber inserts) so the wet cloth is right up against her skin from the minute she pees. She isn't prone to bad rashes, but I definitely feel like she needs a good wipe down regardless.

@Skadi: It definitely depends on the diapers I think. We use cloth but they have microfiber inserts and the pocket is made of a stay dry material, so his skin almost never feels wet when we change him.

I've never not wiped for pee as a nanny (girls and boys). It never occurred to me not to.

I did up until about 8 months, and since then only if it is a really wet diaper.

Nope never have. He has crazy sensitive skin and wipes irritate it more. We use cloth diapers and he's always dry to the touch

Always!!! Its why she has never had a rash. Well, she did end up with a bad one but it was after she spent the weekend with my mom and dad and I found out my mom never wipes wet diapers. I figure, you wipe yourself after you pee and you weren't already sitting in it for a while, why wouldn't I wipe her?

Not always, but most of the time. I think I actually skipped wiping more then he was a newborn because you change so many damn diapers.

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority here. I never wipe with a pee diaper. I can't remember what I did with my first baby. I have 2 boys.

I do kinda feel like wiping as an adult is different than using a baby wipe on a baby. I feel like as an adult the purpose is to be dry....tp doesn't really clean anything. If the skin is already dry I don't see the need for a wipe. But maybe I'm just a weirdo
we do baths almost every night...I hope my kid isn't the smelly kid!

I always do, and obsessively make sure he's completely dry before diapering him again. I usually catch my husband skipping wiping though.

I always wipe my little guy for pee. The only reason I wouldn't is maybe if he's screaming/hungry/tired and I just want to get it over with quickly.
