It's never scared me befpre, but we have a family trip to OBX coming up in a couple of weeks, so these shark stories scare me a little!

a little but I still go in!
Last summer on the Jersey shore we saw HUGE areas of jumping fish - the lifeguard made everyone get out and sure enough here came the fins!!! That was freaky!

@mediagirl: Nope, but can't say that I am not aware and that makes me somewhat fearful... From FL here and another tip is not to swim after 4 p.m. seems that is what they say is hunting time for sharks and larger fish.
I am right now more worried of the bacteria they keep talking about in our oceans due to humid weather and warm water...it is flesh eating......awful

@mediagirl: The bit about menstruation is speculative. It sort of makes sense, but read this: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/isaf/mens.htm

@honeybear: I was about to post that! I think Myth Busters disproved the menstruation thing last year during Shark Week (I was on bed rest during Shark Week, haha). Specifically they proved that sharks react differently to human blood vs. fish blood.
