So, I just popped in the DVD from our ultrasound this morning, and it is definitely another woman's name on the top and not my baby in her womb (different gestational age).
So bummed!

I would actually be really upset by that. That's a serious breech of HIPPA laws. And I would assume that this other woman has YOUR DVD. I work in banking where confidentiality is also really important (although less so than in the medical field) and so I'm really sensitive to these things.

@highwire: I hope you didnt take my comment as me saying that YOU voilated HIPAA. I think it came across like that, sorry =o) THEY messed up. I mean, it could be worse, it could have been confidential information. It just sucks that you were looking forward to watching it. Hopefully they get it figured out soon for you!

@jessiejo17: Fortunately, this isn't my regular doctor's office. My doctor outsources the first trimester screening and anatomy scan to a perinatologist since they have a really high-tech machine. But, this office isn't doing my regular appointments, nor will this office be delivering my baby.

I just called and they said I could bring the other woman's DVD in if I want to. But since there wasn't a blank DVD in the machine, it probably didn't record. And I just get to wait until my next appointment in July.
LAME. And I'm crying. Stupid pregnancy hormones.

yikes! That would freak me out. I hope you get your DVD.
Funny side story. My dad sent in some old family movies in to be converted to DVD. One came back as a birth video of a twin birth. He complained and sent it back and they promised to return our video. He got it in the mail but it was still the birth video. I would be so horrified if someone got their hands on my birth video (which is why I'm not making one.)

@highwire: that sucks. Seriously? There isnt a chance that they just gave you the wrong DVD? That would also mean that whomever's DVD you have went home either empty handed or with someone elses. Id ask them to check again.

@LivsMama: The dvd belongs to the last appointment of the day from yesterday, and I was the first one in today. I watched her remove the disc from the machine, so the next person is definitely getting a fresh one.

Oh my gosh! I'd also be crying. Can you complain to the office and get another US for free so you can have the video? At the risk of sounding 5, that's so not fair.

@sorrycharlie: I asked, but they just said they'd do the next scheduled ultrasound in July and I could get a DVD then....
We got two pictures at least. I'm just going to cut my losses and move on. When I drop the other woman's dvd off at their office, I'm going to tell them that I was disappointed in the level of service I received that day. (There was another couple of things that went on that were sub-par)

I am so sorry! I have a great US story for you... There I was stuck in some sitrrups doing the wand ultra sound when a male resident burst into the room from a door that was facing my, well, as my daughter says "tee tee". He burst into the room talking all anxiously about some other patient. The doctor then scolded him in front of us for invading my privacy and breaching HIPPA by talking about the other patient (using her name). She then made him apologize to me. The whole time I'm still in the same compromising position. They offered me a $10 gift card for my troubles... I didn't care about anything at all because they had just told me that I was having a girl!

@chopsuey119: What happened was that she was the last appointment of the day yesterday, and they forgot to give it to her. I was the first one there this morning, and I watched the lady take the DVD right out of the machine and hand it to me. So it wasn't just a simple accidental swap. The dvd was already full when they did my ultrasound, so it never recorded anywhere.
