So . . . yeah . . . as of today, at 19 weeks, I have gained a s-o-l-i-d 20 pounds. Twenty. Too-when-tea. 10 + 10 = OMG20. While I fully anticipated gaining weight, I didn't expect to gain this much this soon. The gain has been steady, no more than 1 pound per week, but, still. Seriously? Eating right, light workouts, the whole nine yards, and here I sit at a 20 pound gain.
Is there anyone else that has been through this? I have heard rumors of women gaining early in their first and second trimesters and then slowing down during the second half of the second trimester/third trimester, but I am looking for verifiable proof! Not someone's aunt's third-cousin twice removed's brother-in-law's veterinarian's dog whisperer, but yanno, maybe someone a few degrees closer?
Despite all the humor, I had to stop myself mid-fuh-ZOMG-reak-out at my neuro appointment today . . . so that I could freak out in the privacy of my own home. To top it all off, the dress I bought 6 days ago (for a black-tie optional function this Saturday) will.not.close.over.my.boobs. (the girls are like *taa daa!* up a whole cup size overnight.) Like, not even close. *oy* and * le sigh*
If your OB says you're doing okay, go with it. Just try to eat healthier choices and don't indulge too much on the sweets. I was at 20lbs at 20 weeks then gained 8lbs in two weeks and my weight was mentioned to me. Since then, I have only gained 2lbs. You'll fluctuate. I wouldn't worry about it.
