I just got off of the phone from my weekly call to my parents (every Sunday night since I left home for college!) and I had to share how adorable my dad is. He's a man of few words and has never directly said anything about being excited about becoming a grandpa, but because I know him I can tell he's over the moon.
The first thing he said in our conversation tonight was to ask if I'd heard about Beyonce and what she'd named the baby. I love that he has these little ways of showing his excitement about my baby- even if they don't take an obvious form 
He's also sent me articles about baby naming trends and radio clips about birth playlists from NPR.
Has your dad done anything unconventional to express his excitement over becoming a grandpa?

My dad also doesn't talk about things but he's a cryer. He cried more than I did when my lo was born!

My dad is totally excited but he shows it by offering to buy me stuff, he offered to buy my first run of maternity clothes, he bought our crib and mattress, and my Mom bought me a Coach diaper bag, and we still have 4 months of pregnancy to go. My dad is also hoping it is a boy, and said he will drive the 3 hours out to where we live every weekend to take his grandson to hockey practice.

My dad's already a 3 time grandpa. When my mom told him that I'm pregnant, I finally talked to him afterward. He goes "Do you have anything that you want to tell me?" After that, he launched in painting our second bedroom colors, etc. I said that I'm not thinking about that until we hit 12 weeks.

No, my dad doesn't generally show any kind of emotions lol but I know when this lo is born he will love him/ her tons

aww ur dad is so sweet!
can't really think of anything my father has said or done except he's always asking if i'm eating enough to feed the babies.
on a side note, really hating the name beyonce picked. BLUE? i mean, really?

So cute! My dad's a pretty serious guy, but he's a total softie when it comes to my son. He loved having us around over vacation, he totally got down on the floor and into toys to play with DS. It was so sweet to see, it gets even better Megwag!

My parents are scheduling their flight to come over and meet the baby after he arrives and I'm sure they'll both be in tears when we pick them up.
@looch: I am SO excited about this. My dad is an engineer and very logical, but get him around a baby or little kid and he's crawling around on the floor playing and being silly.
